Fortnite’s Rocket is Scheduled to Launch This Saturday

The wait for the highly-anticipated rocket launch in Fortnite is almost over. With just under two weeks left until the end of Season 4, Epic Games is urging players to hop onto Fortnite on Saturday morning to look to the sky and watch a special blast off event that Epic says “only happens once”.

According to an in-game announcement that appears upon loading up Fortnite Battle Royale, players are encouraged to fire up Fortnite and join a match by 10:30am PT / 1:30pm ET / 7:30pm CT to witness a blast off event in the sky. The news update doesn’t include any other details, so players should be able to see the blast off from anywhere on the map, as long as they are already loaded into a match in Fortnite.

The announcement also features an image depicting the face of the supervillain lair that was added at the start of Season 4 and that has since been broadcasted across television sets throughout the Fortnite map, signaling the upcoming rocket launch.

The final loading screen for completing the Blockbuster challenges also alludes to the impending launch of the rocket housed in the supervillain lair east of Snobby Shores.

Clues of an impending rocket launch have been cropping up in Fortnite Battle Royale, and today’s in-game news update has all but confirmed the community’s predictions. What will happen after the rocket launch is anyone’s guess, but if it’s anything like the meteor from last season, then we can likely expect to see the effects of the rocket somewhere on the map going into Season 5.

Fortnite Season 4 ends on July 12, so fans will have to wait until then to find out what sort of impact the rocket had on the map, if any. That means players only have about two weeks left to unlock the Omega skin before the end of the season, so make sure you’re grinding through those Season 4 Battle Pass challenges to ensure you’re caught up in time.
