Fortnite’s latest LTM is finally here! Starting today, players can queue up for Blitz mode in Fortnite Battle Royale for a limited time. According to an announcement from developer Epic Games, Blitz mode promises “swift storms and lots of loot.” Blitz mode was one of the limited-time modes Epic mentioned in their State of Development V4 update last month.
What is Blitz Mode in Fortnite?
Blitz mode is a new limited-time mode in Fortnite Battle Royale that consists of shorter matches and more intense action. In the recent patch notes for Fornite Update v3.3, Blitz mode is said to have shorter storm times, which makes for quicker matches that only last for 15 minutes max.
In Blitz mode, players are dropped into the first storm circle upon landing from the Battle Bus. The storm will immediately begin to close in at the start of each match, so be prepared to sprint to the safe zone as soon as you land from the Battle Bus in Blitz. There’s less time between storms as well, so make sure to land fast and grab a weapon as soon as possible during this hectic LTM.

Due to its fast-paced nature, Blitz mode has increased loot availability to compensate for the shortness of each match. The amount of resources gathered while harvesting is doubled in Blitz mode as well. Here’s how the loot availability adjustments break down:
- Increased chances of treasure chests spawning from 50-70% to 80-90%.
- Increased chances of ammo boxes spawning from 65-80% to 85-95%.
- Floor Loot spawns nearly 100% of the time.
- Supply Drop spawn interval lessened from 180s (+/- 30s) to 80s (+/- 20s).
- Supply Drop descent time shortened from 60s to 30s.
- Launchpad spawn likelihood greatly increased.
Blitz mode is the latest limited-time mode to arrive in Fortnite Battle Royale on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One following the Teams of 20 LTM that wrapped up just over a week ago. Blitz mode won’t be around for long, so be sure to queue up for this speedy LTM while it lasts.
