Fortnitemares 2021 Features Monster Outfits, New Dual Fiend Hunters, and More

It’s October, which means it’s time for Fortnitemares. This year, Fortnite players can look forward to new and returning Halloween Outfits revealed through fortune cards. Not sure why Epic Games is calling them fortune cards instead of tarot cards, but hey we aren’t here to nitpick.

In a post on the Fortnite blog, Epic Games touches upon the fortune card system and how it’ll be used to reveal special Fortnitemares outfits.

“Fortnitemares 2021 has many new and returning Halloween Outfits in store. Some of what to expect? Throughout the month, cards will reveal legendary monsters making their way to the Fortnite Item Shop, as well as classic Fortnite characters getting new Halloween twists.

With each Item Shop debut, a card will flip over in this evolving page. Take a look at the card to see who’s entering the Item Shop, and see the backs of other cards for hints at who’s next.”

The post goes on to note that some of the Outfits include Universal Pictures-inspired monsters such as Frankenstein’s Monster and The Mummy, with The Mummy being added as a Character in the game later this month.

For Week 1, there will be four cards that’ll flip over with the aforementioned Frankenstein’s Monster being the first Outfit revealed by the cards.

Frankenstein’s Monster will be available in the Item Shop starting today, October 5, at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and includes the Vintage Frank alt Style.

The Universal Studios collaboration doesn’t end there as players can also visit the Battle Bus and chill out with Fortnite cosplay characters at Universal CityWalk this month.

“Also, throughout October, you can visit the Battle Bus and Fortnite cosplay characters at Universal CityWalk, adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood. Different characters will appear throughout the month, with special appearances by new Fortnitemares characters the day they go live in the Item Shop! Stop by and take a picture.”

Reading through the rest of the blog post, it seems like something spooky is happening with the game’s Cubes. It sounds like this mysterious Cube action may tie in with a new LTM along with a new weapon, which the post specifies as being from The Sideways.

“The Cubes are mobilizing for the next step of their plan. Later in the month, they’ll escalate their domination of the Island. But take heart! Strengthen your resolve with a new weapon from The Sideways and returning Halloween tricks. A special LTM will be returning as well.”

The blog post also confirms that, “During this cubic chaos, there’ll also be Quests to accomplish for eerie rewards.”

To help you combat any new threats you might face, a new weapon has been added to the game, the Dual Fiend Hunters. The weapon is similar to the Fiend Hunter Crossbow, but times two and with a faster rate of fire. Dual Fiend Hunters can reportedly be found in Chests or as floor loot.

We’ll be sure to share guides with you on how to get the Dual Fiend Hunters, and how to complete any new Quests as part of Fortnitemares 2021. Until then, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on this year’s Fortnitemares festivities.
