After weeks of teasers, fan theories, and anticipation, Fortnite’s infamous comet has finally struck the island. Fortnite Season 4 kicks off today with an altered Battle Royale map that reflects the aftermath of the comet, which has leveled Dusty Depot and left Dusty Divot in its wake. As a result, new gravity-defying Hop Rocks have been added to the game alongside a new map location called Risky Reels.
Hop Rocks and Dusty Divot
Despite weeks of fan speculation, it turns out the comet wasn’t headed to Tilted Towers after all. Instead, the comet touched down on Dusty Depot, leveling buildings and leaving behind a massive crater. What’s left of Dusty Depot is now called Dusty Divot, which has a new crater research facility located in the center.
Within the crater, players can pick up a new consumable item called Hop Rocks. Consuming Hop Rocks causes the player to temporarily enjoy the effects of low-gravity. Be prepared to see some floating foes when visiting the impact site in Fortnite Battle Royale.

New Risky Reels Location
The crater wasn’t the only change left behind by the comet. Pieces that broke off the comet have impacted other areas of the map as well, altering previous points of interest and creating some new ones. One of the new locations is called Risky Reels, a drive-in movie theater that has been shredded by shards of comet.
Look for Risky Reels in the northeast section of the map, just north of Wailing Woods. There wasn’t really anything in this area before, so there was plenty of room for a new point of interest. Risky Reels was briefly teased in today’s new Season 4 cinematic trailer, which you can watch below.
Season 4 Battle Pass
Alongside the map changes, the Season 4 update also marks the start of a new Season 4 Battle Pass for Fortnite Battle Royale, giving players a new series of customizations to unlock. The basic Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks, but players who want to get a head start on their unlocks can purchase the premium version for 280 V-Bucks, which starts you at Tier 25.
If you pick up the new Battle Pass for Season 4, make sure to check the list of weekly challenges to start leveling your Battle Pass as soon as possible. The first week of challenges include following a treasure map found in Tomato Town, as well as a task that involves finding the letters F-O-R-T-N-I-T-E.
