Announced earlier today on the Fortnite blog, a special “Free Guy” event is set to take place in Fortnite from August 12 through September 6. During this time, players can acquire and complete Free Guy Quests in order to earn rewards like the Good Guy Emote.
The idea of Free Guy Quests may seem odd, but we’ve seen stranger collaborations in Fortnite before.
Fortnite Collabs With Free Guy Film on In-Game Quests and Cosmetics
A special event is happening in Fortnite right now in celebration of the August 13 release of the film Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds. Starting today, August 12, and running until September 6, Fortnite players can obtain and work to complete special Free Guy Quests.
According to Epic Games in the corresponding post on the Fortnite blog, Free Guy Quests can be obtained by interacting with ATMs in Fortnite.
“Meet Guy. He’s just your ordinary, everyday… nevermind. Guy’s just learned his life as a Bank Teller isn’t exactly what he thought. He’s actually a background player in an open-world game. So now he’s arriving in Fortnite?
Well, sort of. In case you didn’t know, Guy’s really busy trying to save Free City. So while he doesn’t get to ride the Battle Bus, he’s still committed to making a special appearance. Search for ATM machines and follow Guy’s instructions to complete the newly-released Free Guy Quests.”
As a reward for completing Free Guy Quests, you’ll be able to earn the Good Guy Emote. And if you’re in the mood to spend a few V-Bucks, a “Dude” Outfit for Free Guy is scheduled to hit the Item Shop later tonight at 8:00 p.m. (EST).”
When looking at the Dude Outfit, we’re reminded of blonde Anthony Kiedis in the Red Hot Chili Peppers video for Californication and we’re not quite sure why. All we know is that now that we’ve seen it, we can’t unsee it.
Anyways if you’d like to buy the Outfit, it’ll be available later tonight as previously mentioned. The V-Bucks price of the Outfit has yet to be revealed, but we imagine it’ll be along the lines of what you’d expect an Outfit price to be.
