Forspoken is Project Athia’s Official Title

Dungeons and Motherf-ing Dragons

The “one last thing” moment during today’s Square Enix Presents: Spring 2011 presentation was a bit of a surprise. A game that was only known as “Project Athia” before now has a title.

Forspoken, featuring Ella Balinska as the protagonist’s voice actor, is set to come to the PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2022.

Forspoken is Project Athia’s Official Title

In Forspoken, players will take on the role of Frey Holland, a normal person who has found herself in a strange world. There are dragons and stuff, as we’re shown in the trailer. Frey gets magical abilities at some point during the journey, and that’s when the videogame action kicks in.

Forspoken is developed by Luminous Productions, an in-house studio at Square Enix initially comprising the Final Fantasy XV development team. This will only be the second game built on the Luminous engine, but this time the team is creating a game designed for a global audience.

That seems to equate to a more vaguely western fantasy look, but we’ll learn more as we get closer to 2022.
