Despite its incredible difficulty – which, for us is a huge plus – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice players can’t get enough of the amazing narrative spun by FromSoftware. For those that may have already completed the journey, a new story awaits with a recently announced manga spin-off that centers around Hanbei the Undying.

The new spin-off series is set to arrive on May 27th and will feature the NPC that everyone loves to beat on in order to perfect their combat style. The upcoming manga is titled Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei aims to fill in some of the narrative gaps in Hanbei’s history, drenched in blood and strife as fans learn more about how he came to be Hanbei the Undying. 

Thanks to the folks over at PC Gamer, we’ve got our first look at what the new spin-off will have to offer – including a stunning art style that fits perfectly with the story we’ve fallen in love with thus far: 

So where will the new manga debut? It will be live on the Comic Walker website on May 27th, licensed by publisher Yen Press. According to the publisher, “The Sengoku Era…A time when losing a battle meant losing it all. The Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina, aims for world domination…That is, until he encounters a certain Samurai…”
