Pokemon mania continues to run at an all-time high, between the forthcoming Pokemon X & Y for 3DS (check out our strategic preview here) and the recent launch of an iOS app with episodes from the show. But Nintendo is really cooking with the franchise now, with the first reveal of the forthcoming Wii U game Pokemon Scramble U.
The official Japanese site features first screenshots from the game, with multiple Pokemon engaging in battle in a wide-open field. Color codings for particular characters indicate that the game could very well have some sort of multiplayer angle, with up to four being able to engage in battle.
The game will feature 649 different Pokemon in all, ranging from characters throughout Red and Blue to Black and White 2.
There’s no word yet on a U.S. release, but don’t be surprised if Nintendo announces something around E3. We’ll have more details soon!
