During today’s Letter from the Producer LIVE presentation, Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida introduced a slate of new details for Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming 5.5 patch. This patch is laying the groundwork for the popular MMO’s fourth expansion, Endwalker.
It also contains all kinds of new updates and the next chapter of Yoko Taro’s NieR raid storyline.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 Includes More NieR Content, Endwalker Prologue
The patch’s official title is Death Unto Dawn, and the content will be split into two parts. April 13, 2021 is when things are scheduled to launch, with several exciting additions right out of the gate.
The main attraction is the kickoff for Endwalker, of course, but the third chapter of YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse is also included. This date also marks the launch of the PS5 version of the game, which will enter a beta testing phase open to all players.
Many other updates are coming, from new additions to Explorer Mode to new Trials and Dungeons. Individual Job adjustments are being made too; basically anything you’d expect for a major patch.
You can check out all the nitty-gritty over on the patch’s website. The video embedded below was also released.
Yoshida also introduced information on the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV Digital Fan Festival, which runs from May 14-15 and will include panels, musical performances and a keynote presentation on Endwalker.
