Tokyo Game Show 2024 is starting off strong with some big hitters. Fans’ speculations on who, if anyone, from the Street Fighter series would appear in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves have been answered in a new trailer. Neither the classic nor new face of the series, Ryu and Luke, will be visiting Southtown just yet (clearly, Luke is too busy planning a trip to Memphis). Instead, Ken, who has unique interactions with Terry in SNK vs. Capcom, will be joined by Chun-Li in the upcoming Fatal Fury title.
Like the recent Cristiano Ronaldo trailer, this new City of the Wolves trailer doesn’t reveal much information about Ken and Chun-Li’s appearances in the game. The video uses their renders from Street Fighter 6, so we don’t get to see them in City of the Wolves’s flashy art style just yet. The video description clarifies that Ken and Chun-Li will be included in the Season Pass 1 DLC character collection. That confirms two of the five characters who will be part of the first wave of DLC.
Ken, according to the video description, “is slated to arrive in Summer 2025, with Chun-Li following in Winter 2025.” Since Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to release on April 24, Ken may be the game’s first DLC character if no other characters are released immediately after the game launches. Interestingly, the recent Ronaldo trailer has also been uploaded to the SNK Official YouTube account, but does not clarify if he will be playable at all, nor if he will be in the game at launch or as part of the Season Pass 1 DLC somehow.
We may not have guessed that Ken would be part of such a crossover, but it’s a sensible choice that is simultaneously safe and different from the typical Ryu guess. There’s also nothing stating that there won’t be more crossover characters in Fatal Fury’s future!
While Street Fighter guest characters have been on everyone’s minds since Terry and Mai were confirmed for Street Fighter 6, seeing the proof that Fatal Fury will reciprocate the gesture is only getting fans more hyped for the game, as well as for a possible SNK vs. Capcom 3 game. Combined with the series’s revival in the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection 2, fans may be right about this prediction, just as they correctly anticipated Street Fighter characters in Fatal Fury.
