F-Zero has been out of action for a fair number of years, so seeing it back in any form is always a treat, and for fans of multiplayer racing, this is the perfect chance to get into the world that has inspired so many other futuristic racers. However, there are also a variety of new and exciting additions that make this more than a simple reskin of the original SNES racing title.

Not only will you get the opportunity to showcase your F-Zero skills against 98 (!) other players, but new features are being added to this special version that weren’t available in the original game. The ability to customize your vehicles can make every race all the more interesting, and the ability to jump on the newly revealed Skyway to race above your opponents can give you the upper hand.

While it looks like there is no single-player content here, the chance to race against this many other racers at no additional cost is extremely exciting. It’s great to see this classic franchise return in any form, and we here at the Prima Office are already planning on jumping on and duking it out to see who the best racer is.

For those ready to embark on the ultimate racing experience, F-Zero 99 will be available later today, so you can face off against your friends in this high-octane racing title once it becomes available. We can only hope that this isn’t a limited-time offering like Mario 99, so we can keep on racing forever.
