Epic Games Acquires Rocket League Studio Psyonix - Prima Games

Epic Games Acquires Rocket League Studio Psyonix

by Liana Ruppert

Epic Games has been making some serious power moves lately and as their umbrella of coverage continues to grow, more and more developers are joining the gaming giant. The latest studio to join Epic Games is none other than Psyonix, the developers that gave us the hit game Rocket League.

Given that news of Epic Games’ growth has been a cause of controversy in the gaming community due to split reactions about exclusivity and privacy concerns, Psyonix took a moment to address some fan questions about the latest acquisition.

“Your first question to news like this might be, “What does this mean for Rocket League and its community?” We’re happy to say that the answers are only positive. Rocket League always has been and always will be a community-driven game, and now that we have joined forces with Epic, we will be able to serve our community in even bigger and better ways,” began their latest blog post

They also addressed what this means for the future of the studio, stating that nothing will be changing in the short term and this decision will in no way impact how Rocket League plays. What they do expect out of this acquisition is even more support for Rocket League in the long run and an even bigger audience to reach.

The studio seems excited about this big move, ending their announcement by saying: “The success of Rocket League would not have been possible without you, our community. Your loyalty, excitement, and creativity in supporting Psyonix has helped us become who we are, and we look forward to you helping us for many more years to come. You have our sincerest thanks and appreciation.”
