It appears that the partnership between FIFA Soccer and Electronic Arts is a very effective one, as the publisher’s soccer games continue to be best sellers. FIFA 13 by itself managed to clear 14.5 million copies worldwide, a staggering number that actually exceeds the Madden NFL powerhouse due to its worldwide appeal, wnd we’re going to see more where that came from.
The company has announced that they have struck a deal with FIFA (short for Federation Internationale de Football Association) to extend its current contract all the way through December 31, 2022. That means we’ll be seeing more good soccer for years to come and that inevitably means next-gen consoles as well.
“EA Sports released the first FIFA-branded soccer game in 1993, and 20 years later, our partnership with FIFA continues to be very strong,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President and Head of EA Sports. “Our franchise has become the benchmark for quality and innovation in the sports video game genre, and we look forward to many more years of connecting with consumers around the world with our games carrying the prestigious FIFA name.”
Indeed, and it’ll all kick off again when FIFA 14 releases for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Fall…
