From the devs who brought you Costume Quest and Brutal Legend, and the mind of the almighty computer game hero that is Ron Gilbert, comes adventure game The Cave.

Sega are contracted to publish the title on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in early 2013.

The Cave has players getting a team of adventurers together to explore a subterranean amusement park, in which they’ll come across inter-continental ballistic missiles. Apparently you’ll be rappelling and spelunking your way around dark and rocky caverns. If you don’t know what that means then you’re due a trip to the countryside.

“The concept of The Cave has been bouncing around in my head for many, many years, and then the little voices that tell me to do things said it was time to make the game,” Gilbert explained.

“I’m thrilled to be working with amazingly talented folks at Double Fine and ecstatic that the team at Sega believes in adventure games and quirky ideas.”

Double Fine has been working with Gilbert since September 2010, but they’ve been very hush hush about what it was they were working on exactly, with only the odd hint from the big man himself.
