World War Z is out now and while it’s not quite the Left 4 Dead 3 many fans were hoping for, the co-op zombie survival game has a lot to offer for players. An enjoyable undead experience made even better by playing with friends, the team over at Saber Interactive wanted to make it a little easier to play with the people you want to play with – heavily inspired by the Valve zombie game – though unfortunately at this time there are no completely customizable private lobbies.
At this time shortly after launch, there aren’t any private lobbies available. This feature would have been massively helpful for those that don’t have a full squad to play with, or for those that want to mix and match friendlies with bots. Since this game has friendly fire, playing with randoms can be a huge gamble. The only way to eliminate this potential risk is by having a full squad, though not all is lost.
Saber Interactive has been very transparent about wanting to make the game better with the help of player feedback. A good example of this is that on launch day, the online title was riddled with bugs and technical issues and the team immediately tackled the problem effeciently and with great communication.
It’s entirely possible that private lobbies could be coming in a near update, though at this time there isn’t the option quite yet. With the team being very open about their Left 4 Dead influence and the growing number of players asking for this feature, it’s entirely plausible to think we could be seeing private lobbies soon.
For now, World War Z is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For those looking to get in on the action, here are the classes you can choose from:
- Gunslinger — For those who skip the questions and shoot first, the Gunslinger is loaded with an arsenal of weapon damage and ammo-boosting perks to mow down the dead.
- Hellraiser — Enough explosives can solve any problem! Hellraisers come armed with C4 and other tools for effective crowd control.
- Slasher — For warriors with a sense of elegance, the best way to kill is with your trusty blade. Slashers have perks that increase melee damage and effectiveness while their armed tasers deliver electrifying results.
- Medic — Sometimes the best way to fight the undead is keeping your teammates from becoming one of them. Armed with a Stim Pistol, Medics can heal fellow survivors from a distance and help keep the chaos under control.
- Fixer — When versatility in any situation is the highest priority, the Fixer is there for you, starting out with an explosive ammo case and several teammate ammo-restoring perks.
- Exterminator — Fire is the answer! Armed with Molotov cocktails and increased fire damage, the Exterminator just wants to watch the undead burn.
