Digital Extremes Working On a New Free-To-Play Shooter

The developers of the cult hit The Darkness II and the upcoming Star Trek are hard at work at a new shooter with a beta set to come out "soon."

Does the developer name Digital Extremes ring a bell?  It should.  Slowly but surely, it’s been working its way up in the ranks when it comes to some of today’s better games.  The Darkness II is still turning heads with comic book fans, and next year’s release of Namco’s movie-licensed Star Trek is looking very, very promising.

But that doesn’t mean the team has forgotten its shooter roots.  Not by a long shot.  Today, Digital Extremes announced that it is working on a new free-to-play, co-op focused shooter under the code name of WarFrame.  The game features plenty of frantic action, with upgrades available for those who wish to make themselves a bit better.

A beta is “coming soon” and you’ll be able to sign up at the official page.  In the meantime, we’ve got the first trailer, which offers plenty of exciting fun including swordplay and plenty of time bending. Who doesn’t like to bend time?

Look for Warframe sometime in 2013.
