Musician Grimes Just Leaked Her Cyberpunk 2077 Character In-Game

We knew that Grimes was attached to the project with her music, but didn't realise she was an actual character too!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

We knew that the musician Grimes was attached to CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to her breathtaking performance during The Game Awards last year. What we didn’t know was that she was involved in ways beyond her music, she’s an actual character in-game as well!

Whether she was supposed to talk about her character or not remains to be seen but we’ve got the lowdown on yet another face we’ll be meeting when walking the means streets of Night City.

“I did my voice acting for Lizzy Wizzy – that game is going to be fucking good. I mean, I haven’t played it, but I saw someone play an hour of the game,” Grimes mentioned during a recent livestream (via PCGamer). “The game is fantastic, and I play a pop star who committed suicide on stage, and they had to quickly come and perform emergency surgery and replace her whole body with cybernetics while she was dead for an hour. Then she finished the show as a cyborg. One of the greatest pieces of performance art ever made.”

That’s metal af, I don’t care who you are. Though we’re definitely not glorifying suicide, it is pretty hardcore to see such a detailed scene play out and this entire picture really showcases how cut throat Night City can truly be. Who are we and do we own the rights to our own bodies? What if our bodies are no longer ours?

For those that may not know who she is beyond her Game Awards performance, she is an incredible musician with accolades that she has earned. For those that follow Elon Musk, you may also know her as his partner and mother to their unborn child.

Players will be able to see her character for themselves when Cyberpunk 2077 makes its way to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on September 17, 2020. For more about the game itself and its protagonist Vi:

“In the most dangerous megacity of the future, the real you is not enough. Become V, a cyber-enhanced mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant — the key to immortality. Customize your cyberware and skillset, and explore a vast city of the future obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. The choices you make will determine the story and shape the world around you.”
