Crytek’s got a busy year ahead – so it never hurts to have a few extra people on board.
The developer behind the forthcoming Crysis 3 (which has a free online beta that launches today – get on it!) and Homefront 2 have announced that they have opened up a new studio in Austin, Texas, named…what else…Crytek Austin. But the real good news is that the studio is home to 35 ex-employees of the recently shuttered Vigil Games, the team behind the Darksiders’ franchise. This is good news for those folks, as they failed to find a bidder last week in the sales of THQ’s assets.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the newest Crytek studio, which will boast some of the brightest development talent in the industry,” said David Adams, CEO of Crytek Austin. “The studio’s launch represents Crytek’s commitment to delivering diverse and high quality content to players everywhere.”
We look forward to seeing what the studio is up to next. Go get ’em, Crytek!
