Gunfight is a fierce close-quarters game mode and the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update is making a very key change to how it works. Though Gunfight is mostly a beloved inclusion into the Modern Warfare rotation, one concern that is continuously being brought up is that of this mode’s randomized loadouts. Infinity Ward is listening and Modern Warfare’s MP designer is assuring players that those concerns are playing a key role in how this mode evolves.

When one reddit user took to the forums to talk about the random customizations and how though the idea is a great one in itself, the potential for repetition regarding the ‘weaker’ loadouts can burn out the fun factor fairly quickly. Others have chimed in asking why everything can’t be completely random, instead of pre-determined, something that Infinity Ward mentioned they are actively working on.

In response to the thread, the MP Designer added that they are going to be increasing the selection of loadouts in a future update while also saying that the overall randomization regarding every aspect of weaponry will also be addressed here soon.

The Gunfight mode is definitely one of the better aspects of Modern Warfare. Overall, the reaction to this mode is massively positive so seeing ways that it’s going to be made even better is enticing. I will say as a personal fan of this mode, I’m excited to hear about more randomization because sometimes it can definitely feel broken. I played 5 rounds in a row with nothing but a handgun and fists. As someone that usually goes sniper/LMG, that combo was frustrating – to have to go with that combo repeatedly in such quick succession was downright demoralizing.

We’ll be learning more about how the Gunfight mode will evolve in future updates. For now, you can catch up with what’s new this week with some of our previous coverage below:

As for the game itself and the current state of the Gunfight mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the latest Infinity Ward shooter is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through Battle.net.
