Today, Activision announced the release date for the next entry in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (with the official logo stylized as Black Ops IIII). Just like previous Black Ops games, the fourth installment to the series is being developed by Treyarch. Black Ops 4 will release globally on October 12.
Other than the release date, we don’t know much else about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. However, Activision also announced that there will be a Community Reveal Event on for Black Ops 4 on May 17, which will provide insight on the next Treyarch title. There’s also a good chance we’ll see some multiplayer gameplay at the reveal event as well, so be sure to tune in. In the meantime, fans can check out the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 teaser trailer below for a glimpse at what’s in store.
An October release date is somewhat unusual for a Call of Duty game, as previous titles usually launch sometime in November. Perhaps Activision and Treyarch were hoping to get ahead of the holiday rush by launching in the fall.
Fans began speculating about the next Call of Duty title recently after NBA player James Harden was seen wearing a hat with what appeared to be the four-tally Black Ops 4 logo earlier this week. Now that news about Black Ops 4 is officially out in the wild, fans can set their sights on May when more official details are revealed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12. Until then, you may want to visit our Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 game hub to prepare for the upcoming installment.
