Borderlands Film Gets New Casting Announcement, Several Roles Revealed

In a new announcement regarding the upcoming Borderlands film, several new cast members were revealed. According to a report from Deadline, moviegoers can look forward to seeing stars like Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, and Bobby Lee.

The full cast list that dropped today is as follows:

  • Gina Gershon – Moxxi

  • Cheyenne Jackson – Jakobs

  • Charles Babalola – Hammerlock

  • Benjamin Byron Davis – Marcus

  • Steven Boyer – Scooter

  • Ryann Redmond – Ellie

  • Bobby Lee – Larry

The role of Larry that Bobby Lee will play is reportedly a new role, joining the likes of other new roles created for the film like Commander Knoxx played by Janina Gavankar. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has specified that the Borderlands film universe will be separate from the Borderlands game universe.

This helps explain why we’re seeing new characters thrown in, and also why some of the casting choices feel odd when compared to their in-game counterparts.

“We are authentic to characters, tone and style, but allow for independent storylines. The mediums are not the same, so the content should not be bound to the same rules,” Pitchford explained on social media.

Randy Pitchford is also serving as an executive producer on the film along with Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive. The film will be directed by Eli Roth with a screenplay written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). After looking over the latest additions to the Borderlands film cast, what are your thoughts?
