Overwatch was the first title developed by Blizzard in the first-person shooter genre and has seen a great deal of success following its official release. However, it looks as though Blizzard is gearing up to add another FPS game to its portfolio.
According to a report by Dexerto, Blizzard Entertainment posted a job listing for a “senior/lead combat designer with FPS design experience to architect and lead core combat design for an unannounced multiplayer project.” One of the requirements for the position asks for applicants to have six or more years of experience shipping AAA FPS titles in combat or systems design roles.
With multiple reports having stated Blizzard is currently developing Overwatch 2, there is a possibility that the unannounced FPS multiplayer project this new job listing concerns is indeed the next entry in Blizzard’s first FPS franchise. However, there is also a possibility that this unannounced FPS multiplayer project from Blizzard is not related at all to Overwatch and is a completely new franchise.
