Black Ops 4’s Black Market Lets Players Unlock Skins and Cosmetics

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Black Market is now live on PS4, with Xbox One and PC soon to follow.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s in-game marketplace The Black Market is now live on PlayStation 4 and will arrive for Xbox One and PC players next week on October 26, according to an announcement today from developer Treyarch. The Black Market allows players to unlock gear and customizations including Outfits, Gestures, Calling Cards, Signature Weapons, and even Blackout characters.

The Black Market in Black Ops 4 utilizes a progression system called the Contraband Stream, which allows players to earn and unlock content simply by playing the game. These rewards come as a part of seasonal Operations, which offer a series of unlockable tiers and will be rotated out every few months, much like the seasonal Battle Pass in Fortnite. The Operations include rewards for both multiplayer and Blackout in Black Ops 4.

The Black Market’s first Operation is called Operation First Strike, which is available now on PS4 and will run for a total of 54 days before cycling out for a new Operation with new unlockable content. According to CharlieIntel, First Strike caps out at 200 tiers total, with the Blinding Glory Signature Weapon as the final reward. Reaching tier 200 will reportedly grant players the Hudson character skin in Blackout as well.

The Black Market will also include special events that feature unique content for a limited time. The first of these special events is a Halloween event stream that kicks off tomorrow, October 20 on PS4, with Xbox One and PC to follow next week.

Treyarch also plans to introduce the Blackjack’s Shop to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sometime in November. This will be the go-to area for players to shop for in-game cosmetic items and gear that will only be available for a limited time.
