It’s a very Merry Christmas for Ubisoft and all those who like spilling blood with their assassins. Those things go so well together, right?
Ubisoft has announced that it has sold over seven million units of the sequel Assassin’s Creed III worldwide, after selling a record 3.5 million in its first week of release. That’s the highest selling entry in the series to date, and a record setter for Ubisoft in general. To further hype its stats, the company also stated that three billion assassinations have been done in-game since its launch, with an average assassination-per-player count of 429. Man, we kill a lot.
“We are delighted with the performance of Assassin’s Creed III this Christmas,” said Rob Cooper, UK managing director, Ubisoft. “This is a beautiful and epic game of exceptional quality and we’re pleased that our fans have responded so well to the brand new universe, storyline and game experience.”
Business will definitely pick up with the release of long-awaited downloadable content, including the recently released “A Dangerous Secret” now available on Xbox Live and PSN, and “The Tyranny of King Washington” coming soon after. Oh, yeah, we’ve got some work to do…
Assassin’s Creed III is available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
