Apex Legends Won’t Get Titans, Respawn Confirms

It looks like Respawn changed their minds when it came to adding Titans into Apex Legends

We know that Apex Legends, the hit free-to-play battle royale game from Respawn, is set within the same universe of their other big franchise Titanfall, so the inclusion of titans has been a source of curiousity since launch. With several leaks and teases about the arrival of titans in the past, it looks like the studio has changed their minds about this feature’s inclusion.

In a recent interview with the folks over at Game Informer, Executive Producer Drew McCoy mentioned that they prototyped the arrival of Titanfall in the past, but it just wasn’t working out the way they had hoped.

“We prototyped it for like nine months during development, and we couldn’t get it to work well,” McCoy told the site. “Titans were created back in the day as a power item. As a sense of I am now a badass, don’t mess with me. That fantasy fulfillment is destroyed immediately in battle royale once you’ve balanced them to a point where they don’t ruin battle royale. We could never pull enough levers — how you get it, how strong it is, how fast it is, how big it is, what kind of weapons it has, when do you have it — all that kind of stuff. So I think for now, titans are just not a thing. We’re no longer considering it.”

As much as that may let some people down that titans won’t be coming afterall, it’s nice to see that they aren’t trying to force a feature simply to force it. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work, and really that’s all that’s to it.

As for the game itself, the popular battle royale adventure is free-to-play for all on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

“Choose from a lineup of outlaws, soldiers, misfits, and misanthropes, each with their own set of skills,” boasts the game’s official description. “The Apex Games welcome all comers — survive long enough, and they call you a Legend.”
