Apex Legends | New Stories from the Outlands Video Focuses on Pathfinder

Seeking out his origins.

All of the characters in Apex Legends have backstories, including Pathfinder. While there’s still an aura of mystery surrounding his origins, a new “Stories from the Outlands” video delves into some of the things Pathfinder used to do in the past, and his desire to learn more about who created him.

Apex Legends | New Stories from the Outlands Video Focuses on Pathfinder

Pathfinder has a new layer of backstory thanks to information revealed in a “Stories from the Outlands” video called “Fight Night”. In the video, we find out that Pathfinder used to wait tables.

Watching Pathfinder, it becomes clear that he wasn’t designed to wait tables, which leads to the question of what his purpose is exactly.

The video’s description mentions this, reading:

“Whatever Pathfinder was built for, it wasn’t waiting tables. Go on a dangerous search for answers with your favorite MRVN. But pick your fights carefully – not everyone makes it twelve rounds.”

We get a little comedic relief with Pathfinder getting caught up in some action and not fully grasping what’s going on. There’s an innocence to Pathfinder that makes him really endearing as a character. You can’t help but want to hug him.

When looking through Pathfinder’s memories, we see he’s tried to do a number of different jobs without much success. One of these jobs is as a window washer where he gets a view of Humbert Labs and Nox, we also get to see Pathfinder hear himself referred to as “Pathfinder” for the first time.

It’s an emotional moment.

Apparently, Pathfinder was made for “a great purpose” but before we get to dig deeper into that, Pathfinder’s virtual walk down memory lane is interrupted. Add in a little more action, and we get to see Pathfinder discover his powers to grapple and fight.

There’s a nice little sequence flying through the air that feels very Blade Runner in nature, and the animation in the video is truly top notch. Towards the end of the video, his origin video plays through a bit more and we get to hear him called “MRVN” and once again referred to as being a Pathfinder who was made for a great purpose.

The video ends on a more somber note, but overall it adds a lot of depth to one of Apex Legends more mysterious characters. In the comments, people note that this sort of video makes them want an Apex Legends movie, and we definitely agree.

Each of the characters in Apex Legends is so well-written, and videos like the “Fight Night” origin story for Pathfinder really tug at our emotions and make us feel connected to the character as a whole.

We highly recommend watching the full video, which we’ve embedded down below, to see why this “Stories from the Outlands” video, and others, are so important when it comes to fleshing out the lore of each character in Apex Legends.
