Apex Legends Mobile Announced, Regional Betas Coming Soon

The first question Apex Legends players might have regarding Apex Legends Mobile is what exactly Apex Legends Mobile is. In a post on the Apex Legends blog, it’s explained that Apex Legends Mobile is a new version of Apex Legends designed for touchscreens with streamlined controls.

“Apex Legends Mobile is specially designed for touchscreens, with streamlined controls and thoughtful optimizations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone. It’s a new version of Apex Legends, but it’s true to the original.”

If you’re curious and want to check out Apex Legends Mobile, regional beta tests will roll out later this month. However, these beta tests will be small and only available in a few regions to begin with and will expand as time goes on.

“Beginning later this month, we’re kicking off the first regional beta tests for Apex Legends Mobile. This is a huge moment for our team. Two years ago we changed the landscape of the battle royale genre, and now we’re aiming to do it again on mobile.

We’re keeping things small to start—just a few thousand players in India and the Philippines—but over the course of this year we’re planning to roll the game out to more regions and more players around the world.”

A note at the bottom of the blog post specifies that the closed beta tests will only be available on Android devices, but as they expand testing, iOS will be incorporated. A page where you can pre-register will launch in the future, though a date for this has yet to be provided.

Adding to this, Apex Legends Mobile is made specifically for mobile so it will not feature cross-play with console and PC versions of Apex Legends, though it’ll be free-to-play the same as Apex Legends on other platforms.

Complementing the announcement of Apex Legends Mobile today, a “Stories from the Outlands” video was uploaded to the Apex Legends YouTube channel.

The description for this new Stories from the Outlands is as follows:

“Valkyrie’s been pulling smuggling jobs for years, but she didn’t take this one for the money. Still, someone’s got to pay…”

As with all Stories from the Outlands videos, it’s well worth a watch, especially for the animation style which continues to be out of this world amazing. Below, you’ll find the video embedded, though you can also click here to navigate over to YouTube to watch it.
