Aniimo Gets September Release Date During Gamescom Opening Night Live
Cuteness overload.
Creature-catching RPG fans have another open-world adventure to look forward to, as Pawprint Studio has confirmed that Aniimo will officially launch on September 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The release date was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live alongside a new trailer, giving players another look at the colorful world of Idyll and the magical creatures that inhabit it. The game will also make its way to mobile devices shortly after its PC and console launch, with the App Store and Google Play versions arriving on September 23.
Everything You Need to Know About the Creature-Collecting RPG Aniimo
At launch, Aniimo will feature more than 200 creatures for players to discover, capture, battle, upgrade, research, and evolve. Playing as Pathfinders, players will explore the continent of Idyll while searching for different Aniimo that can change depending on factors such as weather and the biome being explored.
This means that finding every creature will require more than simply wandering around the world. Players will need to pay attention to their surroundings and the conditions affecting Idyll if they want to uncover everything Aniimo has to offer.
One of the game’s more unusual mechanics is Twining, which allows players to merge with their chosen Aniimo. Doing so changes how players experience the world, unlocking additional abilities, perspectives, and ways to explore Idyll.
Twining also allows Pathfinders to experience the world directly through the Aniimo they have merged with. Beyond combat and exploration, players can immerse themselves in Aniimo society and observe the everyday interactions and habits that have developed between these creatures.
Idyll itself is divided into several regions and ecosystems, each featuring its own interconnected ecology. Players can explore areas such as Driftwise Meadow, which features an emotion-based ecosystem, the fiery Sandcastle Hill, and the flourishing Rosetower Wood.
There is also plenty to do with other players. Aniimo will feature PvP modes such as Egg Heist, where teams compete against each other, alongside several co-op systems designed to make exploring Idyll with friends easier. Players can use the Horn to call for help, the Flute to invite others to their location or find nearby players, and the Come to Me ability to instantly summon allies.
When players aren’t out exploring, Aniimo offers the Homeland system as a place to settle down with their creatures. Here, Pathfinders can farm and harvest alongside their Aniimo, decorate their home, and even enjoy fairground rides. Facilities in the Homeland are powered by Aniimo and can be accessed from the RV Campsite.
Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can also pre-order two bonus packs ahead of launch: the Aniimo Pre-Order Pack: Advanced Edition and the Aniimo Pre-Order Pack: Collector’s Edition. These packs include additional in-game rewards, including a platform-exclusive Fluffy Friend accessory and an in-game battle pass.
With its combination of creature collecting, open-world exploration, co-op, PvP, and the unusual Twining mechanic, Aniimo is shaping up to be a sizeable new entry in the creature-catching RPG space. Players will be able to explore Idyll when the game launches on September 16, with the mobile version following on September 23.
