Aloy Coming to Genshin Impact as Free Character

PlayStation users can also unlock an exclusive four-star Bow for Aloy.

In a crossover no one saw coming (ourselves especially), Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West is being added to Genshin Impact. Aloy will be a free character, no purchase required, with PlayStation users getting first dibs.

Aloy won’t be exclusive to PlayStation users alone though, which is nice as it means everyone will have a chance to get Aloy via in-game mail.

Aloy Coming to Genshin Impact as Free Character

MiHoYo and Guerrilla Games have partnered up to add Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West to Genshin Impact as a free character.

If you’re new to Genshin Impact, it sounds like you won’t be able to grab Aloy right away as there are a few requirements when it comes to receiving her as a free playable character.

According to a post from MiHoYo

“All Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 20 or above will be able to obtain the event-exclusive 5-star character “Savior From Another World” Aloy (Cryo) directly through in-game mail.

This event will be divided into two phases.

〓Phase I〓

After the Version 2.1 Update – Start of Version 2.2 Update Maintenance (October 13, 2021 05:59 UTC+8)

During the event, all Travelers who log into Genshin Impact on the PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®5 system will be able to obtain Aloy directly through in-game mail.

〓Phase II〓

After the Version 2.2 Update – Start of Version 2.3 Update Maintenance (November 24, 2021, 05:59 UTC+8)

During the event, Travelers who log into Genshin Impact on any available platform, and who have yet to obtain the character during Phase I will be able to obtain Aloy directly through in-game mail.”

Essentially what MiHoYo is saying is that PlayStation users will have first dibs during Version 2.1 so long as they’ve reached Adventure Rank 20 or higher.

For other platforms, players will need to wait until Version 2.2 and will likewise need to reach Adventure Rank 20 or higher to receive Aloy via in-game mail.

Note that an additional freebie for Aloy will also be available for PlayStation users only.

“A free four-star Bow that gives Aloy a special buff can also be obtained exclusively on PlayStation during Version 2.1 and Version 2.2 for players who reached Adventure Rank 20 or above.”

As for why PlayStation users get early access and an exclusive four-star Bow, this is likely because Genshin Impact has a partnership with PlayStation and Sony. Furthermore, Horizon Zero Dawn, prior to its release on PC, was a PlayStation exclusive. The sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, will also be a PlayStation exclusive.

This isn’t the first time Aloy has made an appearance in another game either, as she was added to Fortnite back in April. And if you play Fortnite on PlayStation, you can unlock an alternative blue color for her Outfit.

As cool as the collaboration with Fortnite was, Genshin Impact takes things even further because with Fortnite, Aloy was just an Outfit. In Genshin Impact, Aloy will be playable and will have abilities along with her trusty bow.

Wondering when you’ll be able to get Aloy in Genshin Impact?

As of right now, it’s noted that Aloy will be available for PlayStation users after the Version 2.1 Update on October 13. After that rollout, Aloy will be available to users on all other platforms following the Version 2.2 Update on November 21

And while we wait for Aloy’s arrival in Genshin Impact starting in October for PlayStation users and November for everyone else, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on the new addition to Genshin Impact.
