You better pray that you work with the right people in Sega and Gearbox Software’s forthcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines, because one wrong move and it’s “Game over, man! Game over!”
And there’s no mode that presents that opportunity better than Escape, a new cooperative mode that Sega introduced for the game this morning. In this mode, four players team up together in a squad, working their way through a chosen map while an armada of xenomorphs come at them from every direction. It’s similar to the nature of Left 4 Dead’s chaotic co-op — but obviously with aliens instead of zombies.
The company has also revealed that Aliens: Colonial Marines will be playable on the show floor at PAX, located in booth 242 and 252. And if you haven’t already, you can get your picture taken with a 16-foot Alien replica in a power loader, in case you feel like showing off to your friends that you faced an alien and survived. (Oh, sure, it might be fake, but whatever.)
We’ll have impressions of the game, and Escape Mode, for you in the days ahead. That is, if we survive and some noob doesn’t leave us for dead…
Aliens: Colonial Marines drops early next year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
