Alan Wake Sequel In the Works For Xbox 720?

The writer could very well be making a return in the next generation.

We haven’t heard much from Remedy Entertainment since they released the XBLA sequel Alan Wake’s American Nightmare last February, but it appears that they are working on something special for the New Year.

Following the 75 percent markdown for games in the Alan Wake franchise for Steam, Remedy hinted on its Twitter that fans could expect “even greater Remedy news to come in 2013”.

This leads to the possible hint that a new Alan Wake game could be in the works for Microsoft’s next console, the much rumored Xbox 720.  It’s just a guess, mind you, but considering that Remedy isn’t working on any other franchises at the moment (their previous one, Max Payne, is handled by Rockstar Games), a new Wake game is a safe bet.

And let’s not forget what Remedy’s Oskari Hakkinen said last year about the franchise.  “Alan Wake is definitely very close to our hearts.  It’s our IP – we own it.  It’s not something that we’re going to forget very easily.”  And besides, the story still has room to grow.

We’ll let you know once the sequel is officially confirmed.  Cross those fingers, and keep that flashlight charged.
