Activision Confirms A Few Remasters, Remakes For 2020

Activision is planning even more remasters and remakes for the year ahead, though which franchises those will include have yet to be revealed.

After seeing the incredible success that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy had with its remaster, it’s no wonder that Activision would be looking to explore the nostalgic roads of times past once more with even more re-imaginings. Once you put down the Spyro remake, get ready because Activision has confirmed that even more remakes and remasters are coming in 2020.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick confirmed the news in a recent investor’s call that they are once more looking to journey into the past for inspiration for the year ahead. Given that Activision has such a wide umbrella of properties under their name, it’s anybody’s guess which properties will be brought into this generation but we’re still holding out hope for more Tony Hawk because that was our jam back in the day. But alas, Tony Hawk is no longer working with Activision so it looks like that one may just remain a pipedream until that changes.

When talking about the several remakes and remasters planned during the call, Kotick added: “Be sure to stay tuned for some future announcements, but beyond pure remasters there are a lot of opportunities now to innovate and think about totally new content within theses IPs.”

Modern Warfare’s re-imaginings has been received quite well by gamers, though Warcraft III: Reforged – not so much. Still, there is tons of potential here for the next great remaster/remake, especially when looking at what Capcom has been able to do throughout the years and what 2020 looks like for that particular company.

It’s interesting to think about which IPs will get the remaster and remake treatment from Activision in 2020.
