Achievement Hunter: Hunting Down Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch’s Trophies

You've got a long journey ahead of you, but at least there are some rewards in the waiting, including a few secret ones.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a breathtaking game, an ambitious role-playing adventure where you guide a young child through a fantasy world, in the hopes of being reunited with his mother.  Along the way, he’ll run into a cast of peculiar, memorable characters, including the lovely Esther, the Welsh-accented fairy Drippy (“TIDY!”) and several Familiars who will grow over the course of his journey, evolving into more powerful beings.

Though this adventure is rewarding in itself, it’s got a surprising number of unlockable Trophies attached to it, with both a list of regular ones to unlock and some secret ones as well.  The point of this Achievement Hunter (or Trophy Hunter, if you will) is to guide you through the best basic ones to unlock, though, for good measure, we’ll throw in a few of the secret ones.  There are minor spoilers ahead, so proceed at your own risk.

Let’s take a trip into this imaginative world!  (And don’t worry, we’ll separate the regular Trophies from the special ones.)

Regular Trophies

Out of This World- the first Trophy you’ll come across is simply by taking the trek through the casted Gateway into Drippy’s world.

Guildering the City- you have the opportunity to collect guilders over the course of your adventure, and if you manage to strike up half a million, this Trophy is yours.

Man of Steal- it sounds noble, but this Trophy is awarded by successfully stealing 50 times.

Glim Reaper- Glims can also be collected over the course of your travels, and if you snag 2,000 (which might take a bit), this Trophy’s all yours.

Little Battler Experience- this will take you some time, as you’ll unlock this award by taking part in 1,000 battles, win or lose.

Overfamiliar- picking up your first Familiar takes a while, but if you manage to maximize their familiarity, you’ll get a Trophy for your trouble.

Pedigree Breeder- in addition to helping their familiarity, you can also train Familiars to a maximum level.  Once you reach said potential, you’ll get this Trophy.

Viva the Evolution!- you’ll need a handful of Familiars to do it (so expect to invest a few hours here), but once you do, you’ll unlock this special goodie by managing 10 metamorphoses.

Familiarizer- think you can handle multiple species at once?  If you manage to tame 20 of them for your virtual collection, you can add this Trophy on top.

Boy Scout- running errands is actually quite useful in Ni No Kuni, if a bit time consuming.  But finish 15 of these bad boys and this Trophy’s all yours.

New Sheriff In Town- bounty hunting is also a great deal of fun, even if there are times you can be unmatched.  Complete ten of these missions and this Trophy opens up.

Pop Pop Fizz Fizz- maybe you prefer mixing up things compared to going on hunts or errands.  That’s fine, and alchemizing ten different items will let you graduate with honors with this Trophy.

Treasure Hunter- let’s face it, there’s nothing greater than locating hidden treasure chests over the course of the game.  Find ’em all, and you’ll be awarded the Treasure Hunter Trophy.

Globetrotter- again, this Trophy – like the others – will take a while…but if you cover all the secluded regions within this majestic world, you’ll be able to show this award with pride.

Raising the Stakes- want an easy Trophy?  This one’s simple.  Just head to the casino and win your first prize, and as a bonus, this’ll latch right on to your score.

Magic Master- Oliver’s got quite a few spells up his sleeve thanks to the magic book he carries, and if you manage to get through all the contents and learn everything, you’ll earn the Magic Master Trophy.

Prima Donna- Esther’s got vocal chords aplenty, able to charm any kind of Familiar into a cooperative spell if they’re weak enough.  But she has different songs to her credit, and learning them all opens up this reward.

Gunslinger- Swaine knows his way around a good gun, and learning every single one of his trick shots will let you wear this virtual honor with pride.

Now then…onto some of the Secret Trophies…

Secret Trophies (WARNING: SPOILERS)

Let’s get some of the top ones out of the way first.

Wizardry Whiz- this will take a LOT of time and patience, but if you manage to earn the rank of master magician, you’ll unlock this baby.

Solosseum Slugger- when you first enter the Solosseum (a little bit into the game), you’ll earn this Trophy by beating your first opponent in battle and proclaiming victory.  Get enough of them and you’ll get it.

Solosseum Supremo- this comes by defeating all opponents who stand in your way and crowning yourself the champion of the Solosseum Series.  Oh, and good luck with that.

Then there are the Trophies that come with defeating certain enemies, such as…

En Guardian!- defeating the Guardian of the Woods and bringing him back to his senses.

A Tonic For the Djinn- defeating the Dark Djinn.

Council Trouncer- stopping the Zodiarchy in their tracks and freeing the other world from them.

King of the World- crushing the Guardian of Worlds, which is no easy task, but well worth it.

And then there are the collection awards, and these are much bigger than the routine Trophies listed above.  These include…

Familiarologist- finding and taming 250 different species

Humanitarian of the Year- running 60 different errands

Bounty Hunter- completing 40 different bounty hunts

Super Hero- collecting all the merit awards

Mad Scientist- alchemizing 120 unique items

High Roller- collecting all the tickets for the Mem-O-Vision by winning big at the casino.

Last but not least, here are a few “oddball” Trophies to unlock…

Anchors Aweigh- Awarded for obtaining the Sea Cow.  (Yes, there’s a Sea Cow.)

Fly the Friendlier Skies- awarded for befriending Tengri.

Wonder Wand- Awarded for restoring the legendary wand Mornstar to its former glory.

You’ve got a lot of work to do, so have at it!  (And don’t forget to enjoy yourself.)
