Without further ado, let’s get stuck into the most interesting titles you can grab on Steam this month.

Awesome Games Releasing in May 2025

Survival Machine

Platforms: PC

Launch Date: 7 May, 2025 (Early Access)

Survival Machine is a really interesting debut title from Grapes Pickers, which includes staff who have worked on big titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Frostpunk, and Payday 2 — an interesting resume, for sure.

It’s an open world survival title that features all your standard fare, namely zombies, resource gathering, and crafting. The unique spin, however, is that you travel on a movable base and need to maintain and build up this base to ensure your survival in the unforgiving world.

The graphics lean more towards the low-poly, cartoonish side, judging from the screenshots. But overall, it promises to be an interesting game, with co-op reportedly available from day 1. Yet another game we can enjoy with friends!

Sonic Rumble

Platforms: PC, Mobile

Launch Date: 8 May, 2025

Sonic Rumble is the latest title from SEGA, and it’s a party game that reminds me an awful lot of Fall Guys. It looks like a lot of fun, however, and the best part? It’s free.

It’s a 3D platformer where you compete for the top spot with up to 32 other players. There are your standard races, survival challenges, and collect the most rings challenges. Everything you’d expect from a good platform party game where Sonic’s involved.

It looks like fun, and it’s free, so I’ll definitely pick it up on Day 1 and test my skills against the crowds that are sure to swarm. You know at least a few streamers are getting hooked on this one for a while!

The Precinct

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox X|S

Launch Date: 13 May, 2025

The Precinct sees you play as a rookie cop on a journey to solve the murder of your father in 1983 Averno City. It’s a 3D sandbox game with an almost top-down (isometric-like) view, and it honestly looks amazing. We get to play as the “good guys” for a change, instead of causing mayhem ourselves (cough, GTA).

I haven’t played the demo yet, but there is one available if you’d like to check it out. You can get to experience the cop life first-hand, along with a police chase and a shootout or two.

As good as this game looks, it may well be overshadowed by our next entry, which has a fair amount of hype around it.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox X|S

Launch Date: 13 May, 2025

As the eighth mainline DOOM, this game needs no introduction, I’m sure. But there’s a massive twist in the tale with DOOM: The Dark Ages, and that’s that it takes place in… the dark ages. How on earth will a DOOM game function without guns, you ask?

Oh, there will be guns. There will always be guns. I think the “medieval” part comes in with the shield you carry. I’m sure all will be revealed as we inch closer to release. There is one thing we can all reliably bet on.

It will be good. DOOM games have had their flaws, but they’ve never not been fun. Heck, I even booted up classic DOOM the other day, and I still had a blast. Can’t wait for this one to drop!

Jacksmith: Weapons and Warriors

Platforms: PC

Launch Date: 13 May, 2025

Now I’m torn, seriously. Two really interesting-looking games on the same day? And then there’s… Jacksmith. I hear you, what the heck is Jacksmith? Well, it’s an old Flash game that I played for way more hours than I should have, and it’s fun!

Jacksmith: Weapons and Warriors takes the old game and brings it to modern platforms, and this is another one I’ll be picking up, no matter the other two big releases. I will find time to play it somewhere, if only for the nostalgia.

The premise is that you’re a travelling blacksmith helping warriors to defeat various monsters. The warriors put in their orders, and you (through a variety of means) need to craft these weapons to the best possible quality. It’s a fun time, just trust me on this.

Blacksmith Master

Platforms: PC, Mobile

Launch Date: 15 May, 2025

Speaking of blacksmiths, here’s another title that sees you work the forge and make some cash. This one is a bit more involved than Jacksmith, however, as you’ll need to manage the whole process, from mining the ore, making the weapons, and finally to selling the products.

The Graphics appear to be rather simplistic, but in a game like this, you don’t really need great graphics. The colors pop, and you can tell the difference between a sword and a worker. What else do you need?

It was originally slated to go live on 9 June, 2024, but has faced delays to ensure that the title lives up to expectations, and mine are indeed pretty high!

RoadCraft

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox X|S

Launch Date: 20 May, 2025

Roadcraft is a simulation game hitting the virtual shelves on May 20, 2025. The premise is that you’re a disaster relief company, clearing away debris, rebuilding roads, and basically restarting the industry in affected areas.

That’s about all I know about this potential indie gem. It was well-received at Nextfest and has managed to garner over 50k wishlists, so it’s definitely on a lot of people’s radars. While it’s not my personal cup of tea, it’s a must-buy if you’re interested in the genre.

Deliver at all Costs

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox X|S

Launch Date: 22 May, 2025

Now this one looks like a fun time. You’re a courier in the 1950s, and… you need to Deliver at all Costs. I made a bad joke, sue me.

The main pull on this one is the totally destructible environment and the implied hilarity of the game. I mean, in one scene, you’re floating your car over water with a bunch of balloons. That should give us all some idea of what type of game this is going to be.

While recovering from your DOOM hangover, this one might well be the lighthearted journey you need to get back into the swing of everyday life.

Elden Ring: Nightreign

Platforms: PC

Launch Date: 29 May, 2025

I have never played an Elden Ring game, if you can believe it. And here’s another one staring us all in the face, and my coworkers (big Elden Ring fans) are pretty excited. It’s not your usual Elden Ring adventure, so whether it’s a massive hit or a wayward experiment, we don’t know just yet.

You form part of a team looking to take down tough bosses, kill creeps on the way, and eventually win the round, just so you can do it all over again. It’s kind of like a weird co-op MOBA game. Looks like fun. If only I knew the boss patterns — in my present state, all I’ll be is a liability. So, unless you want to play a few rounds with me, I think I’ll steer clear of this one myself.

An absolute must-buy for Elden Ring fans, though.

June Looks Pretty Hot, Too

Those are all the most exciting games coming in May. There are a few I skipped over, so if you’re following something not on the list, drop me a comment below and let our other readers know!

June has a few cracking titles as well, with Dune: Awakening having been delayed again. Wait a second… Dune… June… is this some sort of conspiracy?

Either way, really looking forward to that one.
