While it can mostly depend on the player, sometimes it also depends on how balanced these difficulties are. Here’s what you need to know about these difficulties in Persona 3 Reload.

Persona 3 Reload: Which difficulty is the best to choose

Just like Persona 3 Portable, Reload has five unique difficulties that alter how intense combat is. You’re allowed to switch your difficulty at any point outside of combat (Mercilous is a little different, as explained below). Which difficulty you should choose in Persona 3 Reload depends on your playstyle, but I think starting with Normal mode is best. Here are the five difficulties:

  • Peaceful
  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Merciless

As you can imagine, Peaceful is the perfect difficulty for players who want to experience the story of Persona 3 Reload without worrying about dying to Shadows in Tartarus. I wouldn’t recommend Peaceful if you enjoy the franchise’s engaging combat system.

Next up is Easy, which is good for players who are annoyed with a boss on Normal mode and want to switch to Easy for less frustration. I’d go with Easy first if you’re completely new to the Persona series. But for series veterans or players who know how combat works, go for Normal mode.

Normal is a perfect balance of combat that isn’t too much of a breeze, but it also isn’t so tough you want to gouge your eyes out each time you die. I think it’s best to start with Normal, then work your way up if you’re brave enough.

Players who know the Persona series like the back of their hand, or have played Persona 3 before, should try out Hard mode. If you’ve already experienced this game, perhaps more of a challenge will make it a more enjoyable experience.

Honestly, Merciless difficulty sounds a bit scary and seems like a mode for hard-core players who are sure of their gaming capabilities. Unlike the other difficulties, once you leave Merciless, you cannot change back to it. Go big, or go home, essentially.

Overall, Normal mode is a good balance of all difficulties, but otherwise, I’d recommend flipping between Easy and Hard, depending on your playstyle and mood.

Now that you know which difficulty you’ll choose once you begin Persona 3 Reload, you may also be wondering about the upcoming class and exam answers.
