Is The Witcher 3 Remastered Free? All Benefits & DLC
The Witcher 3 is getting a big upgrade with a Remastered version, and all the details on the price and included content are available.
The back end of 2026 is packed with an array of exciting releases, but it’s not all about the new games dropping, as there are significant updates for existing titles, none more so than The Witcher 3 Remastered.
Announced during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, The Witcher 3 Remastered is bringing a slew of upgrades and enhancements across the board, including upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode, and lots more.
If you’ve got your eyes set on The Witcher 3 Remastered and want to know if you’ll have to save any cash to splash out, we’ve got all the details.
Is The Witcher 3 Remastered Free?
Yes, there is no additional purchase required for players who already own The Witcher 3, with the Remaster of the title set to arrive as a free upgrade, but if you don’t own the game, you will need to splash out.
Another caveat of The Witcher 3 Remastered is that it isn’t available across all platforms, instead only arriving on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC through the upgrade.
However, The Witcher 3 is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with a release of the Remastered version arriving September 29, while a new partnership between CD PROJEKT Red and Blizzard Entertainment will also bring the title to Battle.net.
The game will need to be purchased on both of those platforms, as it’s a new release, but for anyone who already owns the game on supported devices, a free upgrade to Remastered is provided.
All The Witcher 3 Remastered Benefits & DLC
Not only is a free upgrade to The Witcher 3 Remastered provided, but the upgrade also provides two pieces of previous DLC for free.
Both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLC are now freely available, so you don’t have to wait until Remastered launches, and no additional purchases are required.
If you already purchased the DLC, there won’t be any reimbursement, unfortunately, but it’s the perfect time for new players to dive into the additional content.
That will certainly whet the appetite ahead of the release of the new expansion, Songs of the Past, next year.
