Genshin Impact Gorou guide — Best weapons, artifacts, and talents

We’ve already discussed Gorou’s weapons, artifacts, and talent priorities in an in-depth manner already. But, is he worth having in your squad?
If you simply want him as a DPS character, then I would say no. There are others who can fill that role with ease, and you wouldn’t even bother with Gorou. However, if you want him as a support character and you’ve got Albedo and Arataki Itto, then my answer is a resounding yes.
The General’s War Banner (elemental skill) and General’s Aura (elemental burst) are affected by the number of Geo characters in your party. If you have Gorou and other Geo peeps, then you’ll gain all three kinds of buffs. Even better, Gorou can boost the DEF stat, which is something that both Albedo and Arataki Itto need. Here’s the gist:
- Gorou’s elemental skill has the Standing Firm stage (i.e., one Geo character in the party). It provides a flat DEF boost that can be increased if you level up the talent.
- Gorou’s elemental burst uses the same coefficients from his elemental skill. Moreover, his Heedless of Wind and Weather talent increases each party member’s DEF by 25% of their current value once he casts his burst.
- These mechanics snapshot, which means you’ll want to use Gorou’s elemental skill (i.e., add flat DEF to someone like Itto or Albedo). Then, follow it up with Gorou’s elemental burst (+25% DEF increase based on the boosted value). This can give a character 500 to 600 extra DEF.
- Gorou’s elemental skill also has the Crunch stage (i.e., three Geo characters in the party), which will net you a +15% Geo damage bonus (this can’t be increased even if you level up the talent). Furthermore, if Gorou is C6, then he’ll also add the +40% crit damage for Geo abilities.
Long story short, Gorou works exceptionally well as long as Albedo and Arataki Itto are with him, as both have abilities that scale off the DEF stat. Have these three Geo bros together, and you’ve got a formidable trio. Best of all, you won’t need to invest too much in Gorou outside of his character ascension and elemental skill leveling. Even +0 Noblesse Oblige pieces are okay since all you need is the four-piece set bonus.
