After years of anticipation, the Witcher tabletop RPG is finally gearing up for release. The upcoming pen and paper RPG will be available at GenCon this year, according to a recent blog announcement from R. Talsorian Games, the designer and publisher behind Cyberpunk 2020. The game has been sent to the printers so that print copies of the game will be ready for R. Talsorian’s GenCon booth in August. A PDF version will be available for purchase at a later date.

“We are working with the printer to ensure the R. Talsorian booth at GenCon will be stocked with copies of The Witcher,” says the R. Talsorian Games blog. “Quantities will be limited, though, so we recommend not waiting until Sunday to pick one up!”

The tabletop Witcher RPG, officially titled The Witcher Role-Playing Game, will take place between the events of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt video games, with slight modifications for the world state available to the GM to account for the possible endings in The Witcher 2. Players will also be able to create their characters using a variety of archetypes and races based on those found in the Witcher world.

The pen and paper Witcher RPG was first announced back in 2015, with Mike Pondsmith, creator of Cyberpunk 2020 and founder of R. Talsorian Games, leading the helm. The game was subsequently delayed, but it’s nice to see the game finally get a release date for Witcher fans and pen and paper RPG enthusiasts alike.
