This guide will help you earn an S Rank score in the story mission [Extreme] Traitors’ Caravan in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and includes a list of the mandatory and optional objectives available for this mission. Keep in mind that it is not necessary to complete all the objectives to earn an S Rank. A speedy playthrough can often grant you more than the 130,000 points needed to achieve an S Rank from the time bonus alone.
Objectives
- Identify the armored escort unit (Optional).
- Identify the transport truck (Optional).
- Extract the transport truck (Mandatory).
- Eliminate the Skulls (Optional).
- Extract the transport truck driver (Optional).
- Pinpoint the escort unit’s estimated route by recovering an intel file (Optional).
- Listen to all conversations between the transport truck driver and outpost/guard post soldiers (Optional).
- Extract three Zero Risk Security soldiers (Optional).
Walkthrough
This mission is meant to be a more difficult version of the previous mission of the same name. However, if you follow along with our guide, you should be able to complete this mission fairly easily. The plan for this mission is to simply run straight to Nova Braga Airport to extract the truck, bypassing all of the optional tasks presented to you.
When you are dropped off at the starting point, begin by riding D-Horse southwest toward Nova Braga Airport. Bring up your iDROID and place a custom waypoint just outside the west wall of the airport, between the wall and the road. Now, hop onto D-Horse and ride straight toward that custom waypoint.
As you approach the waypoint, locate a gap in the barbed wire along the airport wall where you can hop over. If you followed our previous mission guides, you will notice that this is the same spot that we have infiltrated this airport in the past.
Hop onto the crate below the gap and climb over the wall. The transport truck that you need to extract will be just to your left. A cutscene will occur as you approach the truck. Skip the cutscene in the interest of time, and prepare to be surrounded by Skulls once again.
After the cutscene, quickly extract the truck using your Fulton Recovery Device, and then run away. While you’re on the move, call in D-Horse to help you quickly flee the area. The Skulls will be chasing you, so just be sure to weave and swerve as you run away to avoid getting shot. The Skulls will let up once you ride far away enough to clear the hot zone, and the mission will conclude.
This is pretty much the same way we dealt with the original Traitors’ Caravan mission, so hopefully you found our method to be just as efficient the second time around. Completing the mission in about three minutes will grant you an S Rank from the time bonus alone.
