This guide will help you earn an S Rank for the story mission The War Economy in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and includes a list of the mandatory and optional objectives available for this mission. Note that it is not necessary to complete all the objectives to earn an S Rank. You just need to accumulate a score of 130,000 or more, and earning the time bonus will greatly increase your chances of getting an S Rank score.

- Extract the arms dealer (Optional).
- Listen to all conversations between the arms dealer and the CFA official (Optional).
- Secure the blueprint carried by the gunship (Optional).
- Extract the materials container inside the Nova Braga Airport hangar (Optional).
Walkthrough
For this mission, you can obtain the S Rank through a sufficient time bonus alone. Thus, our guide aims to show you how to complete this mission as quickly and efficiently as possible. Just a few minutes are all you need, so if you’re ready, let’s proceed.
Begin by landing at 18:00 hours to have the cover of darkness. This location should seem familiar, as it takes place in the same airport that you encountered in an earlier mission. In fact, our approach for this mission will be very similar.
Hop on D-Horse and ride south toward the backside of the Nova Braga Airport, and infiltrate the base through the same gap in the barbed wire fence as you did in the earlier mission. Move forward and carefully approach the main building ahead of you, across from the fence. Locate a shielded guard stationed out front, and quickly neutralize him with your tranquilizer pistol.
Head into the building, and approach the staircase to the right. Take down the soldier located at the top of the staircase, and be careful not to get spotted by another guard in the doorway on the right. Now that you are on the second floor, proceed to the left to locate the CFA official. Equip a lethal weapon to shoot and eliminate the CFA official, completing the mandatory objective. If you move quickly, you can also take down the target and carry him outside, using your Fulton Recovery Device to extract him and complete another optional objective. Just keep in mind that this can cost valuable seconds, hindering your time bonus.‘
Call for your D-Horse as you run out of the building, avoiding enemies if possible. Mount your horse and gallop away from the area into the open field. Once you have cleared the hot zone, the mission concludes. If you moved quickly, you should have completed the mission in about three minutes, earning more than enough points for an S Rank score from the time bonus alone.
