Lego Marvel’s Avengers Guide to Hubs

Plenty of collectibles can be found, along with a few bonus characters.

Lego Marvel’s Avengers has no shortage of activities to take part in, whether it’s completing story missions that tie in with the films or making your way around the city hub of Manhattan and completing missions to unlock new characters. What you may not know, however, is that the campaign also consists of other hubs you can visit in the game, with their own pre-set number of missions and hidden secrets.

These hubs feature locations taken straight from the movies, including the Avengers, Age of Ultron and Thor: The Dark World, among others. Below are the seven hubs, as well as what they have to offer.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Base

Based on the location originally introduced (and then blown to bits) in 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers, this base harbors plenty of secrets, as well as Agent Coulson, one of the most loyal of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Here you’ll be able to unlock a pair of vehicles, including the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicopter and the 4×4 truck, which you can use to bash through certain walls or just tear through the city streets with races, if you feel so inclined.

You’ll also be able to find the following characters in each hub, either through general discovery or by completing missions.

Discovery: Chase, Firebird, Korvac, Ragnarok, Union Jack

Missions: Agent Sitwell, Hazmat, Human Torch (original version), M.O.D.O.K.

South Africa

Featured in last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron follow-up, this location is spread across a number of ships and shipping containers.

You’ll find the Avengers’ Quinjet and the Bulldozer waiting to be unlocked in the vehicle races, as well as the following characters to locate:

Discovery: Black Goliath, Grandmaster, Moondragon, Nebula, Tigra

Missions: Echo, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), The Other, Ulysses Klaue, White Tiger

Barton’s Farm

Also from Age of Ultron, this area covers a lot of ground, with the house in the center and a big yard surrounding it, with plenty to see and do.

The vehicles you can unlock include Hawkeye’s Tractor and a Pickup Truck, both of which really get around when it comes to racing.

As for the characters you’ll find, they include:

Discovery: Cottonmouth, Egghead, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop version), Laura Barton

Missions: Butterball, Gorilla Girl, Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur, Squirrel Girl (Unbeatable Edition)

Sokovia

This town from the Age of Ultron film comes loaded with plenty of hidden goodies throughout its many buildings, including several characters and gold bricks.

The two vehicles you’ll find here are the Helicarrier Lifeboat and the Hover-Bath, which offer good aerial rides you can use to ride around in, if you call them from a vehicle hub.

Here are the characters you’ll locate within the city:

Discovery: Bengal, Demolition Man, Ronin (Blade), Spitfire, X-Ray

Missions: A-Bomb, Crimson Dynamo, Gargoyle, Hulkling, Extremis Soldier

Washington, D.C.

Even though it might be away from most of the action, this hub serves plenty of purpose with its amount of collectibles.

The two vehicles you can unlock are the Gyrocopter and the News Helicopter, which you’ll earn by taking part in the twin events featured within.

Let’s move on to the characters, where you can find these favorites:

Discovery: Captain America (Sam Wilson), Diamondback, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Wizard

Missions: Arnim Zola (Classic), Blazing Skull, Bucky Barnes (Classic), Captain Britain, Crystal, Nova

Malibu

His home was scuttled in Iron Man 3 (terrorists armed with missile-firing helicopters have a penchant for doing that), but it’s fully intact within the game, with plenty of rooms to visit and stuff to find.

You’ll have access to Stark’s fancy sportscar and the Mandarin’s destructive helicopter by completing the two racing events featured here, so be sure to jump in.

As for the characters, you’ll locate these happy few between discovering around the base and completing missions:

Discovery: A.I.M. Agent, Iron Man (MK1), Iron Man (MK5), Iron Man (MK17-Heartbreaker), Iron Monger

Missions: Amadeus Cho, Happy Hogan, Justin Hammer, The Mandarin (Trevor Slattery version), Rescue

We’ll break down the much larger Asgard hub in a forthcoming article for Lego Marvel’s Avengers, but you can visit our guide to get a better idea of where these hidden secrets are located, and you can stack up on your collection.

Oh, and one more thing – each of these hubs have one Stan Lee In Peril mission, where you’ll find him in need of assistance. Remember, the more of these you beat, the better chance you have of unlocking him within the game – excelsior!
