First,go to the main menu and look on the right side of the screen, where you’ll find a Help tab that features every in-game Tutorial.

Crafting Like a Pro

There is a Crafting tab available from the main menu. You’ll see faces next to each option, including Takkar at the top. These represent NPCs (non playable characters). To get their help, you must recruit these people to your village.

Now complete the prologue and meet Sayla, then work on the Deep Wounds mission and Tensay the Shaman. As this goes along, you’ll run into more NPCs throughout Oros, and finding them will result in crafting the necessary items for survival.

Now open your Crafting tab and you’ll see the items available to make. An icon will indicate when an item is ready to be put together. You may need to find the materials first, so search around the world using your Hunter vision (clicking the R3 button) to track them down and completing the necessary steps. You can check on the item to see what you’re missing at any time, so you can find the proper resources and get to work.

Unlocking the Skill Tree

In your menu, you’ll also see a tab for Skills. As the name implies, it lists the in-game skills broken into various sections that you can fill out as you earn points. You’ll need to find more NPCs throughout the world and complete their tasks in order to earn skill points, whether they’re escorts, hunts or other types of missions.

One example is the Tensay the Shaman quest. Finding and beating his mission will allow him to join your village and unlock a new portion of the skill tree, the Beast Master. You can now earn XP and skill points that you can use to start filling this in, and eventually become better in that category. For more, Prima’s guide on the Best Skills in Far Cry Primal will prove useful.

The Wenja Village

Expanding your village is important in Far Cry Primal, as you want the Wenja to thrive and live on. The NPCs you find throughout the world will join your village as you complete their missions, each with their own individual huts. By making upgrades to these huts (using resources and other tools), you’ll earn new items to use (upgraded clubs and other weapons) and skills.

The menu features a tab marked Village that displays which huts need upgrading. If they’re grayed out, you still need to find that particular NPC before you can make progress, which you should be able to locate on the map. Once their quests are finished, they’ll join your village and you’ll be able to work on upgrading their hut.

Capturing Outposts

Traveling can take a good amount of time in Far Cry Primal, so it helps to unlock checkpoints for fast travel, including Bonfires. However, Outposts are vital spots to cut down your travel time. They’re highlighted on your map with a white hut with a red background, making them easy to spot.

The Outpost provides you with a place to get some rest, as well as resources through an in-game Stash, should you need a refill on food or other materials. You can also warp between your home village and these checkpoints with ease, so you don’t have to walk all over Oros.

Some Outposts will be easy to capture with one Udam to kill. The tougher Outposts require a plan of attack. If you can, call upon your Owl. This creature can pull off a pair of attacks that can take out enemies (like its Dive Attack) without giving away Takkar’s location. In fact, the entire Outpost can be cleared with a matter of swoops. Give the Owl a few seconds between attacks so it can cool down – the Udam aren’t going anywhere.

Daysha Hands

There are plenty of collectibles to find throughout Far Cry Primal, but the easiest ones you’ll come across are the Daysha Hands. You’ll find 100 of these throughout the game, and with each one you collect, you’ll be able to earn some additional XP, as well as the occasional Skill Point. These will both help you rank up quickly and conveniently, earning new abilities for Takkar.

If you collect enough Daysha Hands, you’ll earn the Cave Hoarder Trophy or Achievement, which unlocks by picking up 80 collectibles within the game.
