In what has become a growing trend, some of the best Xbox 360 and PS3 games have found new homes on Xbox One and PS4. The latest game to receive the makeover treatment is Dark Souls 2. Bandai Namco will release Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin on April 7, 2014.
Similar to Metro Redux, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, players can expect a variety of additional features that will most likely enhance the Dark Souls 2 experience. Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners will immediately notice improved graphics, in-game performance and superior audio. In addition, Bandai Namco will increase the maximum number of online players to six. Not only that, but the Dark Souls 2 downloadable episodes (Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King and Crown of the Ivory King) will be on the disc.
Here’s where it gets especially interesting. Scholar of the First Sin will ship with more NPCs (non-player characters) to build upon the story, game balance tweaks, better online matchmaking and different item descriptions. As it turns out, Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will see this content through a free update.
Bandai Namco released a short trailer that offers glimpses of these improvements, but you’ll want to see more. That said, we’ll have more on Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin throughout 2015.
