Twitch Users Share Bogus Reasons for Muted Audio

by Morgan Shaver

Some of the new copyright policy changes at Twitch have been met with contention, confusion, and frustration. And for good reason. Music isn’t the only thing resulting in muted audio on streams.

Apparently, your audio can be muted for things like police sirens in a game and for just… speaking normally.

It’s understandable that Twitch would want to protect copyright holders when it comes to music, but things are clearly being taken too far.

To emphasize just how ridiculous the situation is on Twitch right now, we’ve put together a compilation of some of the wildest reasons for muted audio and some of the best responses to the issue.

Muted audio over a police siren, damn.

When your whispering sounds like a “3D Chakra” meditation from someone named Debra Taylor.

Dead Space boss or Abominable Putridity? To be fair, Abominable Putridity is a great name for a Dead Space boss.

Horror game or “Evening in a Country Cottage” for your relaxation and meditation?

God Eater 3 opening has “Dry Gusty and Whistling Wind” apparently.

How weird it looks to stream games without any audio in order to avoid getting muted by Twitch.

Super Mario World should be fine, right? Wrong. Baby Koopa is crying. Muted.

Sometimes you have to take things into your own hands and make the sounds yourself.

WoW music will get you muted on Twitch.

Grandfather clock sounds will also get you muted on Twitch.

When the Uno card fits.

They make a great point, music is key to many video games. Imagine the music in your favorite game muted.

And we’re ending the article with this fantastic thread from Twitter user @SaiMorningstar who sums up everything wrong with Twitch’s new system perfectly.
