Star Wars: Battlefront 2 – Top 5 Things You Might Not Know

by Prima Games Staff

At the Star Wars Celebration 2017 event this past weekend we finally got an official look at the upcoming Battlefront 2 game. EA and DICE are creating an expansive game that spreads across all of the cinematic eras. There is a ton of news relating to Battlefront 2, but here are the five most important things to know about Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Class Based Multiplayer

Huge sprawling multiplayer matches make a return to Battlefront 2. Up to 40 players can join in on the action to battle it out on iconic Star Wars battlefields such as Hoth, Endor, and Yavin. Battlefront 2 also promises a class based online gameplay. You will have the ability to customize your trooper with different weaponry and skins that are appropriate for the era and location of the battle.

Deluxe Edition and Pre-Order Bonuses

As of writing and recording this video, there are two editions for Star Wars Battlefront 2. The Standard Edition, and the Deluxe Edition. There are also confirmed bonuses when you pre-order the game, The Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition improves your trooper classes. Every trooper class (Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist) is upgraded, delivering superior firepower, weapon modifications, and epic abilities Tthe A280-CFE blaster rifle will be an instant weapon unlock, with additional scope modifications for enhanced zoom capabilities. Players who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition also get to play Star Wars Battlefront II up to three days early. In addition, players will receive the Star Wars Battlefront II: The Last Jedi inspired Kylo Ren and Rey, and ability modifiers.

Split Screen Co-Op Multiplayer

Exclusive to the console version of Star Wars Battlefront II there will be two-player offline split-screen co-op. Little is known about this specific game mode it is unconfirmed if this mode will be similar to Star Wars Battlefront’s Split Screen Mode or if it is something entirely new. Though in this mode, you’ll be able to earn customization rewards and bring those upgrades with you to the online multiplayer battleground.

Story Mode

Single player campaign makes a triumphant return to the Battlefront series in Star Wars Battlefront 2. In the story mode you will mainly be following Iden Versio, leader of Inferno Squad, an elite special forces in the Empire. You begin the campaign around the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the second Death Star. You will travel across the galaxy in pursuit of revenge against the Rebellion. It has also been confirmed that there will be missions during the campaign where you play as established characters such as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren.

The Campaign is Canon

Personally, as a huge Star Wars fan, this is the most exciting part about Battlefront 2. The story in the campaign mode will be official Star Wars Canon. Again the story will expand on the time period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and we will be seeing most of it through the eyes of an elite Imperial soldier, a viewpoint we normally do not get to see in the Star Wars universe. With this story being officially canon, we can now close the gap between the original trilogy and the new sequels, which is always exciting for Star Wars fans.
