What do you think of the early impressions people that people have shared for the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S?

I am deeply, deeply stoked to dive into backwards compatibility on the Series X. I don’t care about anything as much as that. Astro’s Playroom also looks like a better time than I thought it would be!

Thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed to December 10?

This is one of the most high-profile crunch stories as of late, but we need to make sure we keep paying attention to crunch as an industry-wide problem. Just because other companies haven’t been caught yet doesn’t mean they don’t do it too. That said I’m sure everyone involved just wants to be done with it, so I hope everyone working on it comes away happy with their contributions. Also, beyond crunch, game developers clearly have management issues and that leadership needs to be held accountable for allowing these problems to happen. Unionize!

What do you think of Netflix doing all these game adaptations like Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed?

Netflix is burning cash and tossing it at every IP possible. Also, it kinda pisses me off when I see “Netflix Original” branded on an anime just because Netflix licensed it for localization. Anyway, I don’t really care but I do want to watch the CG Resident Evil series.

Did you spot any spicy deals as part of Best Buy’s early Black Friday sale?

I really wanted to buy UFC 4, but I managed to resist the impulse buy urge. I’ll have access to EA Play soon enough anyway!

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

For myself, I love that I was able to just write about SaGa for my day job, instead of somewhere in a dark corner of the internet because nobody would pay me for it. Living the dream! And speaking of advocating for things, props to Morgan for rolling up their sleeves and going to bat for Until Dawn and Man of Medan. And Little Hope in the work Slack, natch.

What games are you playing this weekend?

It’s the opening weekend of review season; pray for your Prima friends.

Watching anything interesting this weekend?

Review seasoooooon.

Any plans the weekend or Halloween on Saturday?

We figured out something to do for the kid, and he seems excited despite the whole trick or treating thing being a bust this year. So hopefully that works out.

Adding to that, what do you think is the best Halloween candy?

In this house we respect candy corn. That said as an adult my favorite Halloween candy is beer. Pumpkin seasoning as a concept is kind of silly but it’s great in beer.

What do you think of the early impressions people that people have shared for the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S?

They seem promising. I was actually shocked by the amount of praise for the DualSense controller. really thought that was going to be an under-developed gimmick, but it seems I may have been wrong on that. As for the boxes themselves I’m excited to learn more about the capabilities and less about what the box it comes in looks like.

Thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed to December 10?

That game has really been going through something these last few months. Between the poor labor practices and the out of touch communication from the studio, I hope that game comes out and everyone can move past it.

What do you think of Netflix doing all these game adaptations like Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed?

I’m curious more than anything, I feel like video games lend themselves better to television than movies because so many games are just packed with lore and storytelling that a 2-hour movie can’t possibly hope to cover. TV seems like the right move here.

Did you spot any spicy deals as part of Best Buy’s early Black Friday sale?

I’ve purposefully been avoiding sales for the sake of my wallet, but now that you mention it. Maybe I’ll take a look.

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

Without a doubt, it’s the unboxing of the Xbox Series X.

What games are you playing this weekend?

Going to sink more time into Watch Dogs: Legion for review. So be on the lookout for that!

Watching anything interesting this weekend?

Hmm, I’ll probably try and watch a horror movie for Halloween and then as per usual just some Giantbomb content.

Any plans the weekend or Halloween on Saturday?

No big plans might socially distance with some friends outside in the park if the weather permits.

Adding to that, what do you think is the best Halloween candy?

Candy corn. Don’t @ me

What do you think of the early impressions people that people have shared for the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S?

The PS5 is large as hell but I kind of like that about it. All of the next-gen consoles look well-made and sturdy. I was able to get a feel for the Series X and was impressed by its overall build, although I still have concerns about those big vent holes when displaying the console vertically for a variety of reasons. I guess we’ll see whether I’m just being my normal anxious self or if there are any legitimate concerns there.

Thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed to December 10?

I feel terrible for the devs at CD Projekt Red who were thinking they were in the final stretch, right? And then all of a sudden they find out they have to keep crunching into December. I personally never mind delays if it means the game will be better as a result.

What I do mind is a delay because of game performance that doesn’t extend far enough to reduce crunch for the devs. I say this as a fan of CD Projekt Red (based on The Witcher series), the studio should seriously consider improving how certain things are handled in the future.

What do you think of Netflix doing all these game adaptations like Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed?

I think Netflix’s track record has been pretty solid so far with The Witcher and Castlevania. I feel like we’re finally entering an era of “good” video game adaptations, especially if you look at how much work was put into the CG animation for the upcoming Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness series.

I feel like Netflix knows that video game adaptations are lucrative and are working hard to make them as good as they possibly can. That’s not to say Netflix will never make a bad adaptation, but I have a lot of confidence in them doing things like Assassin’s Creed.

Did you spot any spicy deals as part of Best Buy’s early Black Friday sale?

The amiibo, oh my god. I have a soft spot for amiibo and they also make great Christmas presents for certain people on my list. The price for the Shovel Knight 3-pack in particular is great. The $10 off deals on new Nintendo Switch games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3, etc., are tempting. Also, the headset deals are worth checking out if you need a new headset before your fancy new Series X | S or PS5 arrives.

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

I thought Lucas’s “Why You Should Play Collection of SaGa” was really well-written and informational, and I loved Jesse’s coverage of the Spider-Verse suit in Spider-Man Miles Morales.

What games are you playing this weekend?

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope! I’m very excited, I love horror based around spooky New England (I’m a huge Stephen King fan). I hope the game ends up being good, but I guess we’ll see.

Watching anything interesting this weekend?

Probably not, just continuing watching the kdrama Tale of the Nine-Tailed. It’s very good, I like it a lot so far.

Any plans the weekend or Halloween on Saturday?

Nope, going to stay home. Even without COVID being a concern, it’s really cold up here in Maine lately. My kid is little, almost 3, and I feel like he’ll be totally fine with staying warm indoors and just getting candy straight out of the bag without having to go trick-or-treating for it.

Adding to that, what do you think is the best Halloween candy?

Ohhhhh boy. I’m a huge fan of Sweet Tarts even though a lot of people don’t like them. For my kid, he likes M&M’s and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
