What are your thoughts on the new Ratchet & Clank game and the name they gave their new female Lombax, Rivet?
It’s weird that it uses the same narrative device Crash 4 did to explain its new lady character (alternate dimensions). There’s probably some stuff to unpack there. But the game looks fun, and I like most of the new movement stuff. Honestly this series is kinda out of my wheelhouse so I don’t really have comparison points.
Microsoft recently increased the percentage of revenue developers earn from PC game sales to 88%, matching the percentage of the Epic Games Store. Do you think this will put pressure on Steam to update their revenue split?
Probably not anytime soon. That said I think this move could be more relevant to the ongoing Apple/Epic feud. Microsoft’s representation publicly supported Epic’s boat-rocking, and
New games are out this week, or are out soon. What game are you most excited to check out?
I’ll be happy to check out Resident Evil 8 when I have time for it, also super interested in EDF: World Brothers and Biomutant. Nocturne too, technically, but I’m already playing it, haha.
What are some of your favorite 2021 games so far?
Oof, wow. Okay, got to shout out Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, Loop Hero and SaGa Frontier Remastered. Also Nocturne~
Favorite piece on the site this week and why?
I was really surprised to see an interview with the Axe of the Blood God hosts pop up on the site! Also, I’m glad Jesse did the EDF preview; he did a great job introducing the game.
What are your gaming plans for the weekend?
Gonna play Nier Automata, Nocturne, maybe some R-Type and also messing around with some emulator filters on… probably Vita.
Any cool TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations you’d like to share?
Totally out of left field but I watched The Belko Experiment, and man what a movie. If you’re ever had to work in an office environment, this will make you laugh and then haunt you for days after.
Bonus question, what game have you spent the most time in Photo Mode with? Adding, do you think it’s important for games to offer a Photo Mode?
I messed around with Spider-Man and Mario Odyssey’s photo modes the most, but it isn’t usually a feature I do much with.
Jesse
What are your thoughts on the new Ratchet & Clank game and the name they gave their new female Lombax, Rivet?
I’ve been a Ratchet fan my whole life so I was ready for that game day one. Rivet seems like a cool addition. Not sure how she fits into the story exactly, but I’m here for it.
Microsoft recently increased the percentage of revenue developers earn from PC game sales to 88%, matching the percentage of the Epic Games Store. Do you think this will put pressure on Steam to update their revenue split?
I think everyone is looking at Steam to make a move, but they won’t. Steam still has such a strong foothold in the market they can continue to do whatever they want.
New games are out this week, or are out soon. What game are you most excited to check out?
I poked around with Returnal last night and it’s pretty cool. I’m debating on Pokemon Snap mainly because I need something less stressful.
What are some of your favorite 2021 games so far?
NieR and Monster hunter Rise are my current frontrunners for the year.
Favorite piece on the site this week and why?
Lucas’s interview about CRTs that went up has been getting a lot of really great praise (and rightfully so it’s excellent).
What are your gaming plans for the weekend?
Returnal and maybe Pokemon Snap and another thing I can’t talk about yet.
Any cool TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations you’d like to share?
The Circle season 2 baby! Watch The Circle on Netflix, it’s excellent reality television show garbage.
Bonus question, what game have you spent the most time in Photo Mode with? Adding, do you think it’s important for games to offer a Photo Mode?
I spent a lot of time with the Shadow of the Colossus photo mode back in 2018. It was the first game I felt compelled to take pictures in. I don’t know if it’s important to have, but it certainly helps word of mouth spread about a game.

What are your thoughts on the new Ratchet & Clank game and the name they gave their new female Lombax, Rivet?
It looks absolutely gorgeous, and I already adore Rivet. I think the name is really clever too. Some people were guessing her name would be Rosie, but they’s not too far off given the name fits with Rosie the Riveter so… honestly it’s brilliant.
I’m still eager to see how the game works with the DualSense controller, especially after seeing the latest gameplay clips.
Microsoft recently increased the percentage of revenue developers earn from PC game sales to 88%, matching the percentage of the Epic Games Store. Do you think this will put pressure on Steam to update their revenue split?
I’m really happy to hear that Microsoft did that, it means more money in the pocket of indie developers who sell PC games on the Microsoft Store. And while I do think it’ll put pressure on Steam, I can’t see them updating their revenue split because of this change.
I hope I’m wrong, I’d love to see indie devs getting a bigger revenue cut from Steam sales, but I can’t see Steam changing anything. At least, not right now.
New games are out this week, or are out soon. What game are you most excited to check out?
New Pokemon Snap! I’m so excited for this game, it was one of my favorite childhood games and with all the remakes and reboots, I’d been hoping for Snap so yeah… I’m happy. Next they need to bring back Pokemon Stadium, it’d be rad.
What are some of your favorite 2021 games so far?
The Medium and Before Your Eyes, both of those two stand out to me so far, and I scored both a 10/10. I’ll stand by those scores to the very end, they’re two very good games and they’re both well worth checking out if you haven’t already.
Favorite piece on the site this week and why?
Without a doubt Lucas’s interview with CRT Pixels’ Jordan Starkweather, phenomenal interview on a fascinating subject! Also mentioning the interview Josh did with the Axe of the Blood God podcast crew, I thought that was a very good read as well.
What are your gaming plans for the weekend?
New Pokemon Snap, hours and hours and hours of it, and I’m going to savor every minute.
Any cool TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations you’d like to share?
I’m still watching Season 2 of The Circle, still very much entertained by it. As for music, I’ve been hooked on the song Daydream by The Tech Thieves. It’s one of those songs that really grows on you, and now I can’t stop listening to it.
Bonus question, what game have you spent the most time in Photo Mode with? Adding, do you think it’s important for games to offer a Photo Mode?
Ghost of Tsushima, I spent a huge chunk of time in that game’s Photo Mode. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is another one I’ve dedicated a lot of Photo Mode time to as well.
I do think it’s important for games to offer a Photo Mode. I think it’s a fun add-on, and it can help promote a game because everyone shares all of their beautiful Photo Mode shots. I’m probably biased here though, I do photography in real life too and enjoy taking pictures in any sense.
There’s something magical about capturing a moment that’s special to you whether it’s in a game or in real life.
