Catch up with the Prima Games team, and review some of the site’s biggest features this week.

It’s been one hell of a week, that’s for sure. It’s also been a while since we’ve done an End of the Week recap as we were away for the holidays. We’re excited to continue these features throughout 2021, and we have some things planned for potential group streams as well.

What games did you play over holiday break?

Persona 5 Strikers is coming up, and I gotta play all Musou games at all costs. So I finally decided to tackle Persona 5 Royal. Unfortunately I couldn’t get all the way through it, but I’m on the way there.

Mixed thoughts on P5R as a Shin Megami Tensei dork, but perhaps I’ll make that a feature at some point. I also played Collection of SaGa for the site, and have been making my way through a Super Famicom-translated Dragon Quest V with one of those emulator handhelds. Busy break!

What games are you looking forward to most in 2021?

Shin Megami Tensei V, obviously! And the Nocturne remaster. I’m also looking forward to Atelier Ryza 2 and Guilty Gear – STRIVE-!

Any predictions in regards to gaming events and announcements in 2021?

I predict that we’ll hear from the ESA about E3, but that we woon’t necessarily get a full return of this troubled event.

2021 is also going to be a big year for game streaming, which I think will be a make or break kind of situation as the dust settles on the pandemic situation and Amazon Luna launches out of its weird paid beta state. Microsoft getting in there is also, I feel, going to be a big factor.

What were some of your New Year’s resolutions, gaming or otherwise?

I did a whole article on it! But yeah, this year I’m going to try to stress a lot less about things like The Backlog, and try to do more to build myself up in this bizarre career of mine.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I’ve been tossing out feelers for interviews for a few months now, and was stoked to get results for the first time with one of my favorite characters, Sam & Max. It’s a small email Q&A, but with a lot of personal value.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

More Persona 5 Royal, more Dragon Quest, and the rest depends on my email inbox for the next few hours.

Did you watch anything interesting over the holidays, or are you watching anything interesting now that you’d recommend?

I watched some of the 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam, since it finally appeared on the Funimation app. I’ve watched it before, but it was nice to have it playing on my Switch over to the side while I put a model kit together.

If you even just have a casual interest in Gundam, I really think going back to the beginning provides a ton of crucial context for everything that followed.

Bonus question, if you were a Pokemon, which Pokemon would you be?

I would 100% be Crabrawler, and I would never evolve. Just look at this dude:

What games did you play over holiday break?

I mostly played 13 Sentinels to round out the games I missed from 2020. I also joined a Minecraft server with some friends which has been a really nice break from uhhh everything.

What games are you looking forward to most in 2021?

Currently, my most anticipated is Monster Hutner Rise. After playing the demo last night I seriously can’t wait to sink hours and hours into that game.

Any predictions in regards to gaming events and announcements in 2021?

Honestly, with everything that happened last year I believe 2021 is going to be even more unpredictable than that. I mean 2021 has already been bonkers and we’re one week in.

What were some of your New Year’s resolutions, gaming or otherwise?

I want to cover and be better about following live service games more. Often the stories of these communities are so powerful and interesting. I want to do a better job of keeping tabs on them.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

Lucas posted that really great interview with Skunkape games.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

I think I’m finally ready to dive into Rust and see what that’s all about. Who knows though, something else might sneak up on me and take away all my time.

Did you watch anything interesting over the holidays, or are you watching anything interesting now that you’d recommend?

I haven’t watched a ton recently. Mostly just Giantbomb content and the occasional episode of Survivor that my roommates are watching.

Bonus question, if you were a Pokemon, which Pokemon would you be?

Sobble. Easy. Sad bois for life.

What games did you play over holiday break?

A lot of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Tetris 99. Multiplayer games that I can drop in and out of quickly can be nice sometimes.

What games are you looking forward to most in 2021?

Horizon Forbidden West! People who know me know that Horizon Zero Dawn was one of my all-time favorite games, I am really excited for the sequel. I’d also add in the new God of War, Halo Infinite (if they finish it by Fall 2021), and Resident Evil: Village.

Any predictions in regards to gaming events and announcements in 2021?

I think there will be a lot of catching up as games that were delayed from last year into this year start rolling out, I think there will be some interesting announcements over the summer as well. Likely no in-person E3 this year, but with all the practice last year doing remote events, I think this year’s online announcements will be even better in terms of pacing.

Depending on how well the vaccine rollout goes, we may see the return of events by Fall 2021 like PAX West. I’m not expecting anything so that I’m not disappointed, but as they say, anything is possible.

What were some of your New Year’s resolutions, gaming or otherwise?

I would really like to be more social within the gaming community. I’m a shy bean and I struggle to put myself out there when it comes to things like podcasts for example. I’d like to work on that. With gaming, I’d like to improve the way I write guides to make them more and more accessible.

I’d also like to write some meaningful pieces that have a nice, positive impact. I tend to hold myself back when I’m writing because, again, I am a shy bean. I need to shake off that shy bean attitude. A lot of other resolutions, but I’d also like to see the Tetris Twitter get to 100k followers on Twitter.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I loved the interview with Skunkape Games that Lucas did, it was really insightful. I also loved Jesse’s HyperX Cloud Revolver review, it answered a lot of questions and I must say, it’s a nice looking headset.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

Well, there’s a Maximus Cup event in Tetris 99 with a brand new Kirby theme, grabbing that new theme is a must for me. I’ll also try to make more Battle Pass progress in COD: BOCW, I’m a little over halfway done and I know that completing it will feel really satisfying given all the work I’ve put in.

Did you watch anything interesting over the holidays, or are you watching anything interesting now that you’d recommend?

I finally got around to checking out The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix and it was phenomenal. I highly recommend checking it out. I also watched some of the History of Swear Words which… yeah, that’s an interesting show lol.

Bonus question, if you were a Pokemon, which Pokemon would you be?

Without a doubt, Mewtwo. I’ve always loved Mewtwo’s search to understand its place in the world and its emotional growth over the course of the series. Also, Mewtwo looks really cool and stands as an interesting contrast to the undeniably adorable Mew.
