This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

The October update for Pokemon Go has added a Catch Bonus for medals and we have a list of the rewards you can get from the Catch Bonus medals. Up until now the medals were essentially just an achievement system for Pokemon Go. However, with the October update released a few days ago, players receive a Catch Bonus when earning medals for catching specific Pokemon.

With this new Catch Bonus mechanic, the more Pokemon you catch of a certain type, the easier it becomes to catch harder Pokemon of the same type. The bonus is directly related to the type of Pokemon you catch, which we’ve detailed below. Bronze medals net you a +1 Catch Bonus, Silver medals give you +2 and Gold provide a +3 Catch Bonus. Other medals that you get for visiting PokeStops or anything other than catching Pokemon have not changed. For more on Pokemon Go be sure to check out our in-depth guide hub!
