Lego Marvel’s Avengers: The Coolest Heroes

Of the 250 plus characters available, these are Prima’s favorites.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

With the time spent playing Lego Marvel’s Avengers, we’ve come across a variety of memorable characters, whether it was heroes playable right from the start or those we discovered over the course of the lengthy campaign. Everyone has something to offer in this universe – and that makes it difficult to pick a favorite.

Nevertheless, we scoured the game to find some of the best characters you’ll come across through this imaginative world, and even though your choices may vary, these are ones that you should definitely try.

A-Bomb

Also known as Rick Jones (who you can transform into, by the way), A-Bomb has the kind of power that could put Hulk to shame. Along with the ability to climb up buildings and put out fires, A-Bomb can clean house with his super strength and super jump. Pair him with the big green guy in co-op and you’re in for a party.

Agent Coulson

When you first encounter Coulson in the game, he seems hapless, locked in the field office at S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters. Let him loose, however, and she shows how powerful he can be. Along with being able to access every inch of the S.H.I.E.L.D. home base, he’s capable of destroying silver Lego pieces, making him an asset when it comes to completing the game 100 percent. There’s also a version of him with a Destroyer Gun that’s even more lethal, especially against tougher enemies.

Agent Carter

Yes, the heroine from the popular TV series (and the original Captain America film) made her way into the Lego Marvel’s Avengers video game, and we’re glad to have her. Not only does she pack a punch with up-close melee attacks and lethal range with her pistol, but she’s also authentic, with Hayley Atwell voicing the character. That’s enough for us to fall in love with her all over again.

Captain America (Sam Wilson)

While there are several variations of the Captain available in Marvel’s Avengers (Steve Rogers with boxing gloves, Bucky Barnes, etc.), we took a liking to the Sam Wilson version. He can throw his shield like a pro and take down enemies with swift fighting techniques, but he also possesses the power of flight, making him just as lethal from above as he is on the ground.

Daredevil

While we wait patiently for the next season of Daredevil to arrive, in the meantime we can play with the Lego character. Daredevil is quite a devastating force against enemies on the ground, utilizing a pair of billy clubs to pulverize foes into blocky piles. If you’re into melee combat, this is one of the best characters you’ll find.

Doctor Strange

Considering Benedict Cumberbatch will give him the big-screen treatment later this year, it’s nice to see Doctor Strange show off his magical capabilities in Lego Marvel’s Avengers. Carrying an arsenal of magical powers that will send enemies flying, and proving to be just as good with fisticuffs, he’s a sorcerer that shouldn’t be messed with.

Jessica Jones (Jewel)

She may not look as hung over or angry as she does in her Netflix series, but don’t be fooled – Jessica Jones, known here as Jewel, can still do plenty of damage in the Lego world. With the power of flight, she gets around each hub and level with ease, and she also has super strength. Team her with Luke Cage and prepare for a brawl.

Lou Ferrigno Hulk

While the original Hulk is much larger and more powerful, the Lou Ferrigno take on the character is perfect for gamers looking for a bit of nostalgia. He’s capable of destroying property, and he can also tear an enemy apart. Plus, he definitely has the 70s look going for him, which is perfect for old-schoolers.

M.O.D.O.K.

Behold M.O.D.O.K.! The robotic tyrant may have been a pain in everyone’s backside in previous Marvel games, but in Avengers you can unleash his chaos on unsuspecting forces. Use his laser to fry enemies to a crisp from range, or utilize his super jump to prepare a masterful ground attack. Never mind the fact he doesn’t physically have arms – you can still crush the opposition.

Squirrel Girl (Unbeatable)

Yes, Squirrel Girl finally gets her due in an Avengers game, and she fits right in. Capable of a number of awesome attacks, she cleans house on bad guys, using her squirrel-attack and the ability to throw the furry critters at foes. In addition, she quickly gets around with her gliding ability and being able to dig underground.

Stan Lee

Last but not least…Excelsior! By finding all the Stan Lee In Peril scenarios in Lego Marvel’s Avengers, you’ll eventually gain access to the man himself. He can deflect incoming projectiles and lasers, then quickly go from point A to point B and cover a lot of ground using super speed. In addition, he can become a Hulk-like creature, smashing through everything in his path.
